Crystal Japan was an out-take from the forthcoming Scary Monsters album. Originally titled Fuje Moto San, it is possibly a revamped track from the aborted Man Who Fell To Earth score. At the time of its release, it was being used in a Japanese sake commercial
The melody from Crystal Japan was later used by Trent Reznor in his song A Warm Place which appeared on the Nine Inch Nails album The Downward Spiral (thanks to Matt Hill for confirming this).
