I was also one of the fans who only heard this gig, but not because of the Berlin Wall. I had been a bad boy was was locked up in Moabit jail, only a stones throw from the Reichstag. I wasn't familiar with the Glass Spider album but the songs that took me by surprise were "All the Madmen", "Sons of the Silent Age" and "Time". Stone cold sober and hanging onto the bars on the window, the latter 2 were absolutely fantastic. I sometimes wish I could have seen that gig but at least I heard it.

I don't remember where I got this quote, so sorry for not giving proper credit, but I'm pretty sure it's about this show:
Spaceface asks: Do you have a favourite db gig?
Coco answers: Hi Spaceface, that's tough. I'd have to say in my top five
gigs the gig in front of the Reichstag where through word of mouth a crowd
had collected on the East side of the wall through out the day and swelled
to quite a size by ShowTime. When we got word to David during the show that
there was another audience behind him and he sang Heroes to them and we
could hear them cheering inspite of curfew and not being able to see them
on the "other side" it has to be up there in the "moments".

This was the fourth show on this tour and also the fourth we would see. It was part of a three day festival with Bowie heading the first night. Others on the festival where Eurythmics and Phil Collins on the other nights. This was really a great show. Probably the best I've seen. It was also the return of Bowie to the city in which he lived for a few years and where he made his better albums and songs. I must say that being in that city still surrounded by the wall, and Bowie performing Heroes in front of the Reichstag is something really special. Bowie was alos in great shape and one could see that he enjoyed being in ths wonderful but strange city again. When we met up with the band in the hotel, Melissa told me that Bowie took the whole crew to East-Berlin because he wanted to share this with them. Also something to remember was the feeling that on the other side of the wall, a whole bunch of people were listening to the show they could not go to. Sometimes you could hear the crowd over there shouting... Special feeling and a perfect unforgetable show... Oh yes (If you read my part on the Werchter show): I handed over the Belgian paper reviews to Melissa.
