Booie for the Toon! From the opening Quicksand to O Superman!, this was spirited stuff with, to me, interesting new lyrical adaptations to Stay and Fame. I'm not too sure about the advisability of sporting a Newcastle United top when singing Fashion, but otherwise a superlative performance with anecdotes and a timely tribute to William S. B. by way of an intro to Scary Monsters. My only regret is that I didn't collar Reeves when I saw him to sign my newly aquired A Fleeting Moment CD. What keeps Mike Garson looking so beatific, by the way? Any news of the tour coming to East Asia, does anyone know? In the meantime, Sha-sha ni.

Stunning. Amazingly varied set with some real suprises, I would never
have bet in a million years on Stay or Queen Bitch being played. Nice
to see David playing sax again (on Seven Years in Tibet I think) and
paying tribute to William Burroughs (who died the same day).
A real tell-your-kids-about type night!

What can I say, absolutely fantastic night. From the moment Bowie walked on stage with just an acoustic, and played Quicksand, to the last note of Look Back in Anger. Never thought I'd see Bowie in a smaller venue than the Mayfair, with Tin Machine a few years ago. Highlight for me was Stay, from Station to Station, but even the new tracks which I hadn't been to keen on before, took on a whole new sound. So much for the separate drum and bass segment I'd heard so much about.........the set was nicely evenly mixed, and as for Queen Bitch, words escape me!!

I could have gone home after he played Quicksand & i would have had a brilliant night .as it was i stayed for the rest of the performance & had a fantastic night.david seemed more relaxed than i have ever seen him before & seemed to genuinely enjoy himself.
after my initial scare about tickets the relief when i actually got one was immense undoubtably the best thanks david it was top.

Splendid. Set list was pretty much the same as Liverpool, but a rather different running order -roughly:
1. Quicksand 2. The Man Who Sold the World 3. Queen Bitch 4. Jean Genie (with a r'n'b intro)
5 I'm Afraid of Americans 6 Fashion 7. Battle For Britain then, can't quite remember the order, Fame, Looking for Satellites, Seven Years in Tibet, Outside,
Fame, Under Pressure, The Heart's Filthy Lesson dedicated to the late William Burroughs (only cut ups could explain the line What a fantastic death abyss) Scary Monsters
which DB said could also have been about Burroughs, Little Wonder, Stay, and Hall Spaceboy.
Encores were Dead Man Walking, White Light White Heat, O Superman and Look Back In Anger.
Bowie told a fascinating story about visiting Burroughs in the Bowery - Burroughs lived in the basement of the old YMCA, and his room contained a bed, two chairs, and along one wall, the original urinals.
I would have taken notes but the Riverside is a small club, standing room only, at capacity. And anyway, I was listening to the music.

BOWIE doing these small venues is brilliant. To see David and his band
so close will be the bizz. I have just opened a new record shop in
South Shields called "Changes One" and already a number of BOWIE fans
