6-24-04 Well it is 2004 now, and Bowie DID take SEVEN YEARS to come back to Florida!! (See my comments in 1997 from "Quicksand"). Unfortunately, the 2004 Miami show never happened as one the the crew members fell to his death between the opening act and Bowie. Luckily for me, it didn't take me seven years to see another show. I caught the Bowienet show in NY prior to the Heathen tour, and Bowie twice (each) in Chicago and Atlantic City during this A Reality tour of 2004. While all great shows in there own, I never thought I would ever top the excitement of this show. This show will always be one of Bowie's best ever. However, it this was the best show of the Earthling tour, I know I saw one of the best of the A Reality tour the first night of AC. What a show!! Unfortunately, there is no longer a place to record comments on this site. This site is still a great archive of information, and now a personal diary! Just hope I get to see Sailor again many times in the next seven years... v2david (you can guess where the v2 was influenced from!!)

Hello....all......I just thought I'd drop a quick line after reviewing my shows the I've been to this year,,,,,,,I headed to Both October 7 & 8th's shows and I feel that wednesday's show was the best for me of 1997,,,,,,( with Oct 7th's as a close runner up....) ,,,Growing up near Philadelphia,,,,,live from the Tower has always been close to my heart,,,,,I'd never though I'd see him in a such a rare setting...not to mention most likely the Best show of the tour....One thing you can always count on when it comes to David.......he's always willing throw in that WOW factor...Knowing the greed factor involed with Rock music these days, It's truely refreshing to see there's still rockers out there who do it for the love of thier art.......JW

Great reviews Hans and Marni (but Marni, he has been playing Under Pressure since the Outside tour, sorry!). Hey Quicksand, I was standing next to you up front, remember? Hans, hope the folks at Eckard get your film back to you. This was the show to be at...years from now, thousands more will lie and claim to have been there.

there isn't a whole lot i can really say about the show that the other wildlifers haven't, so i'll concentrate on something that NEEDS to be said. there was probably the most diverse crowd i have EVER seen at a show, but the young kids seemed to enjoy it on a COMPLETLY different level than the adults did. first off, a good portion of the twenty/thirtysomething crowd was completly and utterly inebriated. in the hour before db came out and the techno muzak pumped over the p.a., my bro and i could not count the number of times we heard these drunk idiots say "what the hell is this crap?" the kids however patiently waited. when he finally appeared with the brilliant acoustic "dead man walking", i hoped that these drunk individuals would show some sort of repect for david, but to no avail. i can understand screaming for the hits, but if you are screaming to hear "fame" or "fashion", TWENTY MINUTES AFTER HE JUST PERFORMED THEM... these people should have been escorted out. the kids sangalong to songs as far seperated as "strangers when we meet", "stay", and "always crashing in the same car". surprisingly, the kids loved every minute of the show, and screamed along to everything, while the drunk adults screamed for "changes", and bitched anytime he did ANYTHING from "earthling" or "outside". most of them didn't recognize the reworked versions of the "hits". i have a message for these people: it could have been worse, he could have concentrated on the let's dance period until the present, but he didn't. he chose a very well rounded setlist that most of you probably didn't remember the next day. this doesn't go for ALL the adults, don't get me wrong... just the annoying ones who were trying to cop feels from the underage bowie-fans in the front, as well as the alcoholics. i'm done bitching now. the good points of the show??? oh gawd, "always crashing" was AMAZING, the rewoked "fame" sounded great, "telling lies", in my opinion was the best live version of the earthling era stuff. the new "v-2schnieder" was much better than i expected, "under pressure" gave me goosebumps, and db joked with the crowd between nearly every song. of course, you all know how long the show was, so i won't rub in the fact that you didn't see it, but my favorite comments of the night were "we'll never do a show like this again, because i won't be around for it", and "it doesn't do much for your voice, but... who gives a fuck???" (if you saw the show, you get the joke.) toodles!, plus

i would have to say that that was the best show ever......we got to the show just in time to stand in front of the bus to see bowie....he was very nice about signing everyones stuff.......and i dont even know why i did but when bowie was right there in front of me i was just like....."bowie sign my arm" and he did.....my friend took great pictures of it all.......and i did my best during the show to keep the signiture protected.......even though it had lots of "moondust" on it......but when i finally did get home i got it tattooed right over the signiture....it looks great.....what a way to remember this great show.......what a night.......

Well. I am currently hooking up Evan with scans of photos to go along with my review of both nights. So far live pictures of the 7th are on the way, and I was hoping to send some pics of Bowie signing stuff on the 8th-- BUT-- the wondefully talented and careful and conscientious Eckerd Drugs, Inc. Machine seems to have lost my film and pictures!! You know what they had me do to help them track down the pictures? Write a description of them down on a piece of paper! They said to give them two weeks. Will I ever see them? With their ingenious tracking skills, why should I worry? I've always had a problem with their lame pharmacy service, so I switched that, and now I will switch to another photo lab. I'm not going to risk my pictures with them again. I'm posting this as a warning to all potential customers at Eckerd's photo lab, as well as for prayers to help my pictures turn up, so I can get them to Evan for you guys.

Tia, you said you were in the blue and white jacket, right? Then you WERE next to me. That was a great spot to watch from, wasn't it? Despite the fight which almost broke out... Anyway, it's good to put a name with the face. It's still all I can talk about also. It's hard to explain the awesomeness of it to those who weren't there... Found this board thanks to David (dl, not Bowie) who mentioned that someone was keeping a set list of each concert. Wish I had found it sooner, oh well. Take care.- Lauren

Hi Lauren,I think I was standing right next to you at the show.I remember when David finally glanced in our direction and instantly we both flung our hands out to wave at him.I laughed because I knew you felt exactly the way I did at that moment.Three days after the show it's still all I can talk about. It really was very kind of David to sign autographs. He wasn't in any way obligated to do that but he did and was so friendly about it.Thanks to RaMOANa I stuck around to get him to sign my ticket.

Kelly C., Hans, Tia - It was great to meet you at the concert. Thanks for keeping me relatively under control. When I got his autograph, I did get to say a few things to him but now I think of tons of stuff I should have asked - like are you recording Contamination next year? and about the 51st Birthday Bash in L.A.? And Hans, read your review - yeah I could have hit the man with the pig, instead I tossed it so it would slide next to his feet - he did pick it up later (it was being smashed by the microphone), hugged it to his chest and told Gail "it's mine" and put it up with the other pigs he had from previous nights. Kelly, I am looking forward to your great photos being posted here! RobotMonster - I still have your bag (you were not in Room 518 at the motel!) and Helen2 will get your address from you in NY so I can mail it to you. I'm still humbled by this concert....

All I can say is "MAN, IT WAS SO COOL!!!!" Three of my friends and I drove from Tampa to Ft. Lauderdale to see the show. Had to take off work and everything. We got to the club around 4:30, had a drink and changed, then on our way to get in line, we saw a small group of people waiting for him to get off the bus. We decided to wait also. Less than 5 mins later...I saw him. I had heard people say he never autographed the night before, but he came over and started signing! I had him sign two concert tickets, and my "sig. other" (who is an even huger fan than I) had him sign the front of his shirt. He also made Bowie laugh because he has hair just like the drummer. It was really amazing. Even if I never saw the show, I would have gone home happy. Well, we got in and because I am so short, we decided to stand on the first level balcony. It is on the same level as the stage (the floor was below the stage). I don't think there is any way I can put the show into words. Any other concert after this will be a let down. It puts the hundreds of other shows I've been to to shame. Amazing. Well, I just want to say "Thank you, David also. I will remember Oct. 8th always. It was worth the drive, taking of work, and going straight to work with no sleep because you had to "break the 3 hour barrier." Everyone, see the tour. It's unbelievable! Sorry to ramble.... Lauren

Oh yeah forgot to mention, did anyone see what happened to Reeves' little finger?Durring the first set he showed Gail his little finger and she sort of gasped and looked at him in amazement.Did he cut himself on a string or is this some kind of insulated obscene gesture among them?

THANK YOU DAVID! What an amazing show! Bowie played 36 songs! He came out earlier then expected, and asked us if we wanted the long or short show. When we screamed for the long show, Bowie said all right, and we would be his guineau pigs! Throughout the show he kept promising to keep us there until Saturday and that we all better find other methods of transportation! It was too everyone's shock as he kept playing hit after hit, even though his voice wasn't as strong, he said "fuck it" and continued on anyway. At the first encore, Bowie told us it was merely a "Bathroom Break for Reeves!" and told us he would be right back. Then to our astonishment there was yet another encore. Before we knew it, Bowie had played every song he's done so far on the tour with the exception of "I'm Deranged" which WAS played at the soundcheck and the regular version of Dead Man Walking (Bowie opened up the show with the beautiful accoustic version instead, and later demonstrated how Jimmy Page's rift was first used in the Superman". Even though his voice may not of been at it's pinnacle, the effort certainly was! Bowie spent A LOT of time talking and joking with the standing room only sold-out crowd of 1,500 or so. And as the show went on, Bowie just got better and better! By the end, the entire crowd was almost like in a hysteria aftre realizing what a bench-mark performance we had just seen. The ambiance was incredible, and Bowie certainly appreciated the crowd, at one time mentioning that we were the only one who would sit through this shit. If it was shit Bowie was dealing out, then pile it on! Bowie has never sounded better. The band was magnificent. Almost every song was a masterpiece on it's own. Simply incredible. And after over 3 1/2 hours no one really cared WHAT Bowie played. No one was complaining about not hearing Space Oddity for the billionth time. I think everyone really liked the songs he played - I know I did. His old catalogue is full of hidden gems that could be a greatest hits package all of their own. Quicksand, Queen Bitch, Always Crashing, etc. were brilliant. And WOW V-2 Schneider was INCREDIBLE!! I feel bad for anyone who hasn't heard the reworking of this song. It may have been seven years since Bowie's been in South Florida (the Sound + Vision tour), but it was well worth the wait. From everyone who attended both shows - but especially the Wednesday October 8th show - THANK YOU DAVID! You put on a show that was not only well worth the wait, but one we will all remember for a long time! Just don't take another seven years to come back again! -David

Although I nearly died of dehydration I was hoping it would never end.Next time David decides to do a long show maybe he should consider tossing a little water on the crowd.Keeping those bottles of Evian on stage in plain sight was excessively cruel.Fantastic show in a great venue.I was indifferent about Gail beforehand but after hearing her I couldn't stop thinking of her voice all the way home. For anyone who noticed I was the girl with the open blue and white jacket with the chinese characters painted on my forehead and midriff.

AWSOME CONCERT!!!! I had a great view from the right balcony. For those of you there, I was the one in the black shirt, and shorts, dancing around, and singing along to every song!!!! Hell of a loooong show as well!!! He sang better than I have ever heard him! Quicksand, Jean Genie, and Always crashing, were the highlights for me! I hope I get to see him again REEEALLLL soon!

I died last night and went to Bowie Heaven! This was the ULTIMATE concert. I thought nothing could top philly on 10-3 and 10-4 but 3 1/2 hours of Bowie was the greatest and I even got to meet the man - got his autograph and pics outside, and stand 1 person away from him for the entire concert. He loved my pig too! Hope he read the RaMOANa underwear....when he stood over them while singing, I thought I would die! THANK YOU DAVID BOWIE! YOU RULE! DB said he would not tour for another 2 years after this tour, but somehow he satisfied my Bowie lust and I will wait the 2 years babeh. The man keeps coming up with love.

I must concure with the other commands I read today. Watching Both Shows was like day and night both wonderful performances. Last night however has to be one of the best. The energy around the club was outstanding. I knew alot of people around me were truly getting into every song. There was sense of magic in the air. Truely a rare performance that i'd not soon forget. I found this web suite about 2 months ago and when I heard he was going to be down here. I went out and picked up my tickets right away. Fellow Bowie fans, Please Please.. Don't miss this show !!....If he's coming your way...make every effort to check him out. It will be show that you'll long remember and one that you'll tell your kids one day.....Johnnie P.S.....I would stronly urge other bands out ther to follow David's lead.........JW

What an incredible night!!! I feel so lucky to have attended such an amazing show!! He really gave his all and sounded and looked great. I still can not believe he played 3 & 1/2 hrs. It was definately more than worth going a 2nd night. He was much more talkative on this night . Definatley a night to remember!!! Let's not forget how great the band was as well.

I'm still rolling in the glitter and rapture! Bowie made up for 7 years of missing this place in two nights of performing here. He was almost literally dragging his tongue on the stage during the finale of "All The Young Dudes." He gave it is all, and it was so real. Thank you David Bowie, and thank you to all the cool fans I met.

What an incredible show. The best show I've ever been to. Bowie was on stage a quarter to 9 and finshed at 12:20 almost 3 and 1/2 hours! It was very easy to get up close. I got there at 7:30 and was about 20 feet away. The man was incredible. He gave it all. Too bad I didn't get to meet any TWers.
