The show was absolutely great, incredible...I havn't seen him so close for a while...was so sexy. I didn't think he could sing Drive In Saturday live...and there were a few songs that has been really surprising to hear. The only bad thing I think it was the organization... I mean, me and my boyfriend we got a list of the pubs where the two couples of Guinness Nancyboy should go giving free tickets, but they only gave us some forms to fill and then nobody called on saturday...so i was quite sure I didn't get any ticket... BUT I went in front of the Hq and at last we got it!! I'm so happy...I haven't seen him for two years and it's great to know that he's always going to surprise me...bye!

Thanks so much for the fantastic concert!!! It was realy one of those days where you wish it never ends. Finally after a long trip by ferry we got to Dublin and went straight to the venue and got some small hopes to get in and yes..... WE MADE IT!!!!! Great show, fantastic performance, small crowd, Bowie as near as never and very talkative. Small anecdotes out of his long career make this concert really special and made this eveving to one of my personal highlights. Now we will go to Paris and see you all there!! Thanks again, David, for that fantastic show! I really prefer that small audience things and it was so intimitate, nothing compared to the previous Wembley stadium thing which was far too large. I really hope now that David will do a tour after that promotions. By the way "Drive in Saturday" was awesome!!!!

Well 1.50 Irish Time and YES!!! the corporate gin and tonic arseholes were infiltrated and YES!!! real Bowie fans made it in......
But wait, although I would like to continue with the above storyline to tell the truth those of us who queued outside opposite the "chosen" ones with tickets were well treated and eventually let in around 9.00 just in time to catch the diminutive Brian Molko finish his set. In truth the whole gig was well planned and not a single tout was outside trying to cash in. I cant speak for everyone outside but it looked like a fair amount of tickets were made available after the "chosen" ones were let in. Added to this was the fact that the tickets cost NOTHING and you received tokens for Two free pints of Guinness as well. Although Brian Molko didn't get to duet with Bowie we also had Talvin Singh spinning the discs as we awaited the mighty one. He duly arrived just before ten o'clock and launched into Life on Mars (whats good for 80,000 people in London is good for 650 in Dublin). This was Bowie in top form. Reminiscent of the "Secret" gig he did in '97, David chatted to the crowd (it has to be said that there was a lot of real fans there) between songs. Introducing the third song he said that he would chronologically go through his entire career "around 300 songs" starting with Cant Help thinking about me. The highlight was his stunning rendition of Drive in Saturday sang with such gusto you would think it was going to be his next single of ...hours. Constantly reminding us that this concert was unrehearsed he nevertheless delivered a fantastic show that thrilled US as well as the assorted invitees perched above the stage.
(Which by the way included Andrew Llyod Webber! Bowie for a West End Musical???). A fantastic night in the end that underlined the need for perseverance in Bowie watching!!!!!!!!
Set List ( as I remember it)
1. Life On Mars
2. Thursdays Child
3. Cant Help Thinking about me
4. China Girl
5. Repetition
6. Survive
7. Always Crashing in the same Car
8. Drive in Saturday
9. Changes
10. The Pretty things are going to Hell
11. Seven
12. Rebel Rebel

Well, its 6:45 on the eve of Bowies Dublin appearance and still no word from anyone who seems to have got a ticket....anyone out there succesful? I failed even though I went to major pubs running Guinness promos, none of the pubs seemed to know what I was talking about, just kept telling me I could get a chance to win T-Shirts and other Guinness merchandise :-(

I'm also pretty angry. I showed up early monday morning and waited for HQ to open up, only to be told that that it was "invitation only".
There was one guy who had come over from England on Sunday night, only
to have to go home empty-handed. I've been a fan for 20 years, and have seen him several times, but this is REALLY testing my loyalty.

Here is an official statement from Guinness regarding this gig:
STATEMENT RE WITNNESS EVENT. 5.10.99
We can confirm that David Bowie is one of the acts playing the WITNNESS
event on Sunday 10 October in HQ. We cannot confirm the other acts until
Wednesday but we can promise something very special.
WITNNESS is a fresh approach for GUINNESS building on existing music
commitments involving some of the most diverse talent on the music scene,
often in unusual surroundings and with unexpected collaborations.
Look out for bars and clubs in Dublin displaying the WITNNESS logo between
6-8 October to have a chance of getting a ticket for the event. If you
don't manage to get a ticket for this event, then keep your eyes peeled for the
WITNNESS logo in the future to find out more about our next amazing event.
I hope this helps in your query & apologise it doesn't guarantee tickets,
but it is a consumer event & we have to be fair to all.

I have to agree, I'm very dissapointed / angry that I can't buy tickets for Bowies Dublin HQ gig. Why in gods name is he putting on a show for corporate bods??? I've paid good money to see Bowie every time he's played in Dublin and this is unbelievable, guess I'm going to have to turn up on the night and pay huge money to touts - Thanks David?!

I too have tried to get some information on obtaining a ticket for the concert. Firstly I was told that it wasn't happening at all, then after ringing for the 5th time was told that the promoters of the gig, MCD, were only issuing "invitations" for the night. I am quite angry at the moment as this "show" will now only be for the benefit of socialites and the music press. Does Bowie really need to play to a handful of "hangers on". It will be interesting to see how much the touts will be asking for these "invitations", no doubt they will get their hands on some. I will call to the venue tomorrow anyway in the vain hope of getting an invite.

It appears that no tickets for this gig are going on sale to Bowie fans. I have been informed that the gig is a private preformance thus the tickets are all with the sponsors (Guinness Ireland). This seem to imply that the brilliant HQ venue will be full of gin and tonic swilling corporate arse holes who have never see Bowie or bought a Bowie record in their lives... If the above is true then I can only say for the first time in 23years of traveling to see Bowie and enjoying his music that I am bitterly disappointed. Who are more important Fans or Suits? This is a kick in the teeth to genuine Bowie fans world wide..
