Thanks to Rachel S. who wrote to The Year 2000 company and received the following information.
The Gisborne 2000 Company is in liquidation so I sent off a letter to them last week and today got a reply. Hooray! Feedback!! The news is not good. I quote from the "first report of the liquidations to all shareholders and creditors of The Year 2000 Festival Company Limited (in liquidation) and the Year 2000 Festival Entertainment Company Limited (in Liquidation)":
"The Statements of Assets and Liabilities ... indicates that it is likely that a small amount of funds will be available to preferential creditors of each company but no funds will be available to unsecured creditors. This could change however, depending on the outcome of the 'Millennium Wall' project".
Basically, the company has assets worth $63,680, claims by preferential creditors (IRD and employees) of $158,096 and unsecured creditors worth $1,100,021. That excludes the costs of the actual liquidation.
The assets do not include a value for the royalties from the millennium wall, so I suppose there is hope that they come to over a million dollars and we all get our money back ... or a special place on the wall? (brings new meaning to 'standing by the wall ...')
Please let others who purchased their tickets from the company know that they have to write to get their name on the list of unsecured creditors. The address for the liquidators is:
Pierce Tubbs, Chartered Accountants PO Box 2283 Christchurch email: pierce-tubbs@xtra.co.nz Fax: (03) 366 5525They should mention the name of the company (as above) and that they wish to make a claim as an unsecured creditor. The liquidators will then send them a standard form required by the Companies Act. They don't need to send proof of payment yet (although I did).
