Re: What Bands Have You Seen Lately? new [re: andro gene]

The last gig I went to was db at Manchester last July. I was in hospital for a bit, then out of action for a few months as a result, but I'm ready to have my live music fix again now!

I'm going to see Sigur Ros on Feb 11 in Glasgow, looking forward to it but I'm not sure how their style will translate into a live gig at the Barrowlands. Should be interesting.

Has anyone else here seen Sigur Ros live?

Last concert I went to, was the Bowie one in July. Since then I've been extremely busy. I was hoping to see Madness in Newcastle but got bogged down doing other stuff.

As Henry bent to give his son the kiss of peace, he hissed in his ear "God grant that I may not die until I have had my revenge on you."

Cold = Lazy new [re: Persilot]

I haven't been to a major show since the Clinic/Apples in Stereo gig in October. The last thing I saw was a collection of localish groups: Bleed, The Peelers, and The Mistreaters. They mostly sounded like Stooges impressionists.

I was going to go try to get scalped tickets for Sparklehorse and Tortoise, but it was too cold to consider standing around outside. I also slept on the Johnny Marr show a couple days ago which was a block from my house.

However, I hope to retrack myself soon; Dead Prez (Wraith2, get to this show!) and the Apples are both playing gigs pretty soon, and I hope to be at both.

Last show I saw was Elvis Costello in October (awesome show, by the way). Next show I go to will hopefully be a Bowie concert! (I haven't seen him live yet).

Re: What Bands Have You Seen Lately? new [re: SuperCreepGrrl]

I saw Alice Cooper the other week, he's quite funny live, then Chris Ria last week who wasn't that good. Too many guitary bits and I hate guitar solos. But Deftones and the Red Hot Chili Peppers I saw live recently, they were good. Hopefully next I'll be seeing Nine Inch Nails when they come to the UK, I've heard rumours. Wooooooo, I love that band.

Danger Danger, High Voltage.

I don't (and can't) go to shows...I'm only 13, but if anybody here is in the Montreal area and wants to see a show by an all-girl unsigned band (hello record companies), here's the info.

First one since Bowie new [re: johnnysitar]

I saw the Rolling Stones last night. Oh, the tickets were way too expensive, but I won them, so it was OK.

It was good fun, and I'm happy to put that Stones notch on my concert belt. They were obviously having fun, and they sounded good, so I thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly for the price I paid.

Plus this guy I'd never heard of called Johnny Lang opened, and he was just marvelous. It was a nice, completely unexpected treat.

What's this? Another door?

woo new [re: WildWind]

The last musical artist i saw was Beck with the Flaming Lips at the Universal Ampitheatre. The Flaming Lips were great. Beck was better than expected. The Flaming Lips weren't as good backing up Beck as his previous band, but they did a pretty good job.

If someone was supposed to save me they have steered wrongly in their direction...for i can never be saved.

Marianne Faithful (Atheneum Theatre, February 1)
Absent of "I Got You Babe" with Bowie, Marianne put on a great show in Melbourne last Saturday.

The venue was an old, intimate theatre and created the feeling of being invited into someone's great mansion rather than a big football game.

It is funny to think that around the time of Sound and Vision, Bowie said he'd be too old to sing "Rebel Rebel" yet here was a 56 year old singing lines such as "Get a hold of your cock, get stoned on my hash".........."she had cobwebs up her fanny and I believe in giving to the poor" and "Every time I see your dick I see her cunt in my bed."

Marianne played her powerful version of "Working Class Hero" and ran through many of her best songs over 1.5 hours. Another superb concert.

Waiting so long, ahhhh:
