i saw phish last night in camden, nj.

they were great. played the best version of "you enjoy myself" i've ever heard in my life.

the trip down wasn't bad at all, the ride home i took one wrong turn and ended up in philadelphia, then up to trenton on some highway that goes back down to philadelphia.

it sucked, but the band was amazing.

Chi-town. new [re: Marquis]

I TRIED to see Supergrass last night. My friend and I drove all the way to fucking Chicago with nothing but a can of pepsi, some no-doze, 2 tickets and a carton of cigarettes. But we got stuck in this insane evil traffic jam on the skyway. We didn't move for 2 hours. I got out and sat on the car, and took pictures.
By the time we got there, we had missed the show. Kim went to some bar and met the drummer, and I walked down the street with a cup asking for change. Someone told me to get a job and stop insulting him, another person said to stop spending my money on beer (I was only a little drunk). Then some spaced out guy came up and looked like he was trying to touch my stomach, so I pushed him and fucking knocked him over. I felt a little guilty, but, hey, what are you gonna do? (actually, I wasn't so much guilty as amused...it was funny). So anyway, I spent my change on a car wash shower for me and Kimmy and our Chicago friends (I was filthy after all my hard work) then drove home at 5 am, freezing and soaking wet.
Got back to Detroit around 9:30...I was in the office by 10. Ugh.

Tonight I'm going to see Type O Negative with dukewhite.

I should've quit when I was a Head.

Appeasing your Moderator new [re: StrangeDrugs]

Last night I saw the Lucksmiths open for Ladybug Transistor.

I will also add that it was my stellar directions that got StrangeDrugs anywhere near where she was supposed to be, but it wasn't my fault about the traffic.

I'm so in love with you girl, it's like I'm on the moon:

Eels and MC Honky last night. They fuckin' rock. They had a nice "raw" sound.

And the sun don't shine even when it's day

Warren the Bat-Spider new [re: beatled]

My assessment of this concert has been long coming, but I went to see Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds with Anisette in Chicago. She was generous enough to allow me to spend not one but two nights on her nazi roommate's couch as well as drink her lovely Chinese beer (and no, I haven't forgotten the Pixies CDs I owe you, I'm just too poor to send them right now ). Of course, the whole thing would have been better had Ruskie actually been able to make the engagement, but sadly, he could not.

Anyway, the concert itself transcended my most wild expectations. I'm sure many of you have heard this story from me, but after the third number, Nick invited the audience to crowd around the stage so that we might further bask in his glory and the imminence of the stage left speaker. My hearing was probably permanently damaged and we all would have died had there been a fire, but I couldn't care less. It was wonderful. Among the most surprising moments were discovering that, the violinist, Warren Ellis was to take most of Blixa's guitar parts (which really added a new dimension to the songs) and that Nick can still scream like a banshee when the mood strikes him. Of course, I'm still jealous of the New York TWers who had the pleasure of seeing Blixa, but even so, I am content with my experience.

I'll do ya one better, I took one wrong turn on the way back and ended up in Gary, Indiana! It was harrowing, let me tell you. I stopped to ask a guy and his dog for directions, but they turned out to be Canadians.

We need some creepy, mysterious figures in our movie. I'll bring a hat.

Re: Warren the Bat-Spider [re: Wraith2]

Okay, I've been having horrible luck with concerts lately, but I'm going to try again. Me and Mark missed Type O, by the way.

Tonight is the Misfits with the Damned and Marky Ramone. I just remembered the show is tonight so already its not looking good. Anyway, its worth a shot. Two years ago I quit my job to go see the Damned.

And a week from today is Iggy, and I will DEFINATELY be there. My friend's band is opening, amazingly. And we're making our Chicago friends come to us, this time.

I should've quit when I was a Head.
