Re: Brazil 2 x Australia 0 [re: Tati_wl]

Australia is holding it's head very VERY high after last night's game. Like a pack of Jack Russel's snapping at Brasil's heels all first half they played a brilliant game against the world champs and are still in with a very good chance to get to the next round.

Who woulda thunk it??!!

There rilly should be a drooling smiley new [re: SoulLoveChild]

Yah, and an Aussie won the US Open earlier too.

More importantly, a good looking Aussie.

The Cavalry [re: Tati_wl]

Ah shit, Tati, it's awesome to have you back around these here parts!

Now we only need a miraculous return from Emilio in order to enjoy the Brazilian-baiting that marked the last tournament. Though, as you say, with Parreira's slightly suspect tactics, your boys may just struggle against some of the bigger teams.

At least you're keeping pace with England.

Re: The Cavalry new [re: Arlequino]

Togo played very well i thought until the swiss scored the first goal, after that they played quite breathlessly. South korea will win the group, and i am so hoping that togo could manage to steal some points from france, thus leaving them outside the knock-out stage once again.
The suprise of the tournament was on it's way last night, when at 70 minutes played tunisia where still winning 1-0. Of course 15 minutes later it was already 3-1 for spain, but still, tunisia deserves some credit for holding their lead for as long as they did. It's not yet over for them, a win against ukraine will see them in the second round, not too impossible i think.

The Spanish new [re: b_mardle]

Spain played a tremendous second half, mainly due to the appearance of Fabregas who brought loads of speed and some deadly passing to the game. It's a mistery to me why he was left out before. Tunesia's goalkeeper gave a helping hand but in the end it was a fully deserved win by the Spanish who indeed look as if they could reach something bigger than usual in this World Cup. I wouldn't mind.

Re: The Spanish new [re: EJ]

I would, i would mind a lot. The only major european nation i won't mind winning the cup is holland.
I thought though that the tunisian goalie was, a part from the 1-1 goal, bloody excellent in that game, basically he is the reason why they managed to last for 70 minutes. Who does he play for?

You seem to forget his badly timed and total unnecessary run to the edge of the box when Torres scored the second. Had he stayed in front of his goal Torres would have had to shoot from a pretty difficult angle. Credits to the Spanish forward though, that second goal was a nice display of skill, cleverly using the opportunity which the goalie was offering.

Germany stay strong new [re: EJ]

A surprisingly convincing performance by the Germans against Ecuador. If Germany keeps it up like that and the English don't manage to get into better swing than they have so far, I am tempted to say: Bring on the English! But I may talk differently after tonight.

What was so suprising? By their fielding second choice players it was clear from the start that the Ecuadorians had resigned themselves to finishing in 2nd place.

Germany are yet to play a full strength quality side -- Sweden or England will be a realistic challenge for them come the 2nd Round - and God help the Crout youngsters if it turns out to be England, which is highly unlikely considering that England will beat Sweden by at least two goals this evening.
