Super penalty taking from the Italians in a match that, though they may not have deserved to win, they didn't often look in great danger of losing.

Had Zidane not disgraced himself, the result would seem a harsh end to a glittering career. As it is, a loser's medal is probably all he deserved.

The one thing I’m not going to miss about this world cup is the filming and directing of it. For some strange reason the director seemed to be going of on a tangent every minute leaving the action on the pitch to one side and cutting to something completely dull and boring of the pitch, to the expense of the hundreds of millions of viewers
. Why oh why did the director feel the need around the 15th minute to get some close ups of some dignitaries who know one gives a shit about this close up went on not just for a few seconds but for absolutely ages all this happening when the ball was in play as well. This is just one of the examples I recall. Plus there was far too much close up shots. Even the BBC’s John Motson felt the need to criticise the directing on numerous occasions during the match.
But anyway well done Italy you didn’t deserve it but who actually did in this world cup…
