An English Tactician?? new [re: EJ]

In reply to:

Spot on as always, Arlequino

If you're not careful, EJ, we're going to start sounding like Strawman and Dara.

The funny thing is, I'm still not particularly sold on Klinsmann as a coach. Undoubtedly he's got motivational skills and the eye for a good substitution, but I still get the feeling he may be tactically inflexible to a degree. Having said that, he certainly appears to have grown into his role as the tournament has progressed. What's unquestionable is that, as with the German coach and squad in 2002, he's getting the very best out of a supposedly limited group of players. If, as reports suggest, he does replace Bruce Arena as U.S. coach after the World Cup, it'll be interesting to see if he can work a similar spell with another hard-working but limited squad.

Chris...

Well shit...looks like he's gone with Kehl, Borowski and Ballack, with Schweinsteiger dropping to the bench. Didn't see that one coming.

Fantastic!! Since england failed to deliver anything spectacular to this tournament, then the yesterday game was, by far, the greatest thing that ever happened to this world cup! It's been a disapointing world cup (in all fronts) already, but had germany won the title, then it would had been a total disaster!!!

Again, do your research!

In reply to:

Besides, as Shelle has pointed out, ice hockey is a stick sport rather than a ball one.

I'd like to ask you, and shelle, that have you ever seen ice hockey been categorised as an 'stick sport'? In some countries - like in finland (where ice hockey is the no.1 sport), ice hockey is categorised as an ball sport.

In reply to:

If you'd done the most rudimentary research on Gaelic football, you'd see that it regularly attracts crowds of over 80,000, making it by far the most popular spectator sport in Ireland.

Okey, i have to say, that i had no idea. Unlike most of you i'm capable of admitting it when i have been wrong...

She might not know much about football

'Anything', is the word i'd use.

Oh yeah, she brought up the old retard-card, how original.

All Cheat new [re: Arlequino]

We was robbed. Fuck the Fifa. Suspending Torsten Frings from the semi-final was nothing but an act of discrimination which decided this World Cup. Fucking Fifa didn't want our glorious nation to win the title because we would have become way too mighty for them: Staging the perfect tournament, winning the title and having Franz Beckenbauer as candidate for the next Fifa-Boss election was too much for Suiss bastard Sepp Blatter so he decided to suspend our best midfielder. Fuck you, Blatter and wait for Beckenbauer to massively kick your balls to mash at the next Fifa board meeting. You deserve nothing less.

Fuck you Mexican referee. All play acting by the Italians didn't bother you though we all now that those lazy cheats from Rome are notorious for that. But as soon as I heard that a Mexican was refereeing I knew what our great boys were in for: Evey bloody Mexican wants to live in the US and I am absolutely sure that last night's ref has already applied for his Green Card - and which of the two countries playing refused to go to war in Iraq with the US? And which one happily went? Exactly, those spineless Italians. Need I say more about that ugly git from Mexico and the motivation behind all his actions yesterday? Don't think so.

But all that made me even more proud of the guys in black and white: We took on the world, showed loads of guts and would clearly have gone all the way and brought the title home where it belonged if it hadn't been for this anti-German conspiracy. Kiss my arse Mexicans, Fifas and Italians - I know that we are still the best as we are real men and not some Nancy Boys who cannot fight it out with us on their own and need all help they can get.

Swallow your high-heels, bastards.

And I want to believe that a light's shining through somehow

Erm...did billy hack into your account? Or is this a clever form or irony? Or maybe you're drunk. Yes, surely that's it...

Edit: Best match of the tournament by a country mile. Probably superior to anything in the previous World Cup too.

Achtung, German parody! new [re: EJ]

I agree.

What a great game though, between two great teams. I was surprised how positive the Italians were: my guess is they didn't fancy their chances in a pen shootout against Germany in general and Jens "computer printout socks" Lehmann in particular.

Gutting for the Germans to lose it right at the death, but in extra team the Italians were the only ones who looked likely to win. Great clean game too. Best game of the tournament? I think so. And the first Italian goal was the best goal of the tournament. The pass that not only picked him out but teed it up for his favoured left foot, and the strike, were just sublime in the circumstances.

Any team who beats the hosts deserves all the credit they get, but credit too to the Germans for lighting up this tournament.

Slan libh,

Dara
