By straight Wildwind, do you mean the person couldn't be bisexual?
Just curious?

gay/bi/straight Bowie fans new [re: Roxy641]

I'm bisexual, and was long before I got interested in Bowie. I've noticed that most of the girl posters are bi, and most of the guys are either completely gay or completely straight......it's interesting, anyway.
I think one of the things I like most about Bowie's looks (especially during the 1970s) was the fact that he looked like a man and a woman. The term androgynous is misleading for him, I think, because he can look like both sexes at once instead of neither. Another reason I can think for the high percentage of women bisexuals is the fact that it's easier for women to be bi than men. I think that straight men are more likely to get defensive around men they think/know are homosexual than are girls -the straight girls I know are more likely to take same sex interest as a compliment. Anyway, that might just be my weird friends!

I think they get equally made fun of. Almost all comedy shows with gay or lesbian characters utilize the male effeminate, showtune-loving stereotype, and the female flannel-and-jeans tomboy stereotype. Iv'e never heard anything make fun of bisexual people though.

it's just that because we live in a male world we somehow think female bisexuals are okkkkkkk cuz we think we might actually get laid, or have a 3some.....that was the thought i didn't originally express...

Even when a bisexual star admits they are bi as opposed to gay/lesbian, they are called gay star or lesbian star.

The media just can't handle us bisexuals!!!!

I have always wondered about having certain musical tastes that seem to dictate someone's sexual preferences..Sexual preferences are only 10% of a person's life...Let's concentrate on the other 90 and quit worrying about who is gay and who is not. So what...What does it have to do with loving Bowie? I am straight...oooh I admit it, straight as an arrow with tendancies to lean a bit at times...Fear not WildWind, there are straight men who love Bowie too...they are just less likely to admit it because they struggle with their masculinity...I am proud to say my husband likes Bowie and as far as I know he's straight, but then he dosen't care what people think and he's comfortable with who he is. I am glad so many people here felt comfortable sharing their sexual preferences, there is nothing more attractive than honesty and openmindedness. xoxoxox

Re: are bowie fans gay? new [re: from the room]

I've had sex with men and kissed a girl and didnt really like any of it. Sex is overrated IMO.
Among Bowiefans, I met more straight than gay people.
Among gay people I met more Bowiefans than non-Bowiefans.

Re: are bowie fans gay? new [re: from the room]

Whether or not Bowie fans are gay, what does it matter. Some are, and some are not. That's like assuming that all Sinatra fans are Italian mobsters, or that all Italians are mobsters even. Generalizations are unfair to the people who do not fit into them, as well as those who might. This post has shown that a lot of fans are gay, a lot are straight, and even bi-sexuals are fans....SO WHAT? Is it going to become a rule that you should come out of the closet if you're planning on buying a Bowie CD?

Just my opinion. Either you share it, or you don't share it. That's my point.
