TW Dead Pool 2005
|
|
|
Name ten people you think will die in the next year. When they die, their age is subtracted from 100 and the difference is the amount of points earned. For example, if you pick Daddy and he dies in the next year, you would get 42 points because he would be 58 at the time. Add up the points you get at the end and the one with the most points wins.
The trick here is diversifying your choices. Sure you could fill your list with old people, but even if half of them die you're looking at only 50-ish points. If, however, you predict that some child star will die of a drug overdose or kill themselves then you could potentially wrap up the entire competition with one death.
So come on, TW, it's time to get morbid!
I believe in the power of doubt.

The Pope's too easy. If I predict that he will survive 2005, I should get double points. I will say this for sure, though: if the Pope *does* die, and if both of us are true to our word, then StrangeDrugs and I will probably die not too long thereafter, or at least be hospitalized.

Michael Moore, eh? Are you going on the principle that all funny fat guys die in their 50s or counting on an assassin?

It's only a matter of time before some of us get some points and start making this contest more exciting.
They say it happens in threes, but what about this strange combination: Johnny Cochrine (or however you spell it), Terri Schiavo, and The Pope.
There's a few "gates of heaven" jokes there, I'd hope.

Well, it looks like Kristen Machina is winning this thing with 37 points. With Arlequino, Dara, and myself picking up our first 16 points (and KM adding 16 to her previous 21) from Pope John Paul II's death.
But it's only April, ladies and gentlemen. We still have a good 8 months to watch them drop and rack up the points.

I'm too lazy to do the math but it looks like EJSunday won. Best was a good call.
