Well, Í wake up this morning to go to work as you do at 5:30am and noticed out screen door was half open....we live on the second floor of a block of units....anyways....

A few minutes later I realise my new mobile..an early xmas gift..my expensive watch..Mel's laptop which is bran dnew...money from our wallets..my work bag with CDs and discman....Mel's work keys and a heap of other small items are gone...

The police have been here and as it turns out 4 other units were done over between half 12 last night and 5am this morning........

It is just to know that people were in our flat whilst we were sleeping....god knows what may have happened had either of us been woken??????????

My partner's unit was broken into while he was in hospital a few years ago (bastards!) and his computer was stolen. It was old and slow and he hopes they enjoyed what they got, because his friends rallied round and bought him a brand new one to replace it Being on a benefit there's no money to pay for insurance.

You can buy something very cheap to protect you, we've got an infrared movement detector alarm (whatever it's called??). It cost something like $80 CND. you put it at a strategic point.

Or you could just get a dog if you haven't already. Someone was prowling outside of my house last night and my Jo heard him and barked her little behind off. That seemed to have scared the stranger away, but I'm going to keep my outside lights on tonight just for sure.
