Re: Do you have snow yet? new [re: diamondogz74]

We've had RIDICULOUS amounts in the last month. Maybe close to ten feet. And it has been extremely cold, going down to -31 C last week. Usually our town is prepared for such a thing, but the roads have been shit the whole time. I drive a Lincoln Town Car which is the antithesis for driving in such conditions. Luckily I haven't been in an accident, but I have seen a lot of close calls and collisions plus a lot of vehicles in ditches. It's great for the skiers and snowboarders, though, since outdoor sports is huge here and we have 3 ski mountains within 40 miles. And if you have never been to Yellowstone National Park in the winter it is a treat. I worked there for one winter and the sights are magical to the eyes. This year, though, i am hating the bitter cold and shit roads, so I hope this winter passes quickly with an early arrival of spring. The sprinkling you got, is nice and those are wonderful pictures, though. But when your body parts become near paralized and your skin stings, it's a different story. And you need to learn a lot of patience to make due with these extreme conditions in my part of the world.

My lord! how terrible, the UK comes to a standstill with an inch of snow, we have lots to learn from countries who have heavy snowfalls.

Let's hope the spring arrives soon

Rrr... I love snow, but we never get it over here in Southern California! I've only seen snow ONCE, when I went to my late paternal grandparents' cabin in Colorado when I was five. I was a short little bugger (still am), so my dad had to carry me through it. It would have gone right over my head!

Well, Ilive in Iowa, and its winter. YES, lol..we have snow. Its pretty at least. Its okay- BUT I don't like the cold much. Summer and falll in Iowa is nice however.

Snow is rather like a stupid, pretty person. Nice to look at,maybe play with once or twice, but other than that-rather useless to me.

Yep! We gots some snow. But, it's that powdery stuff, which is absolutely no good for the many snow activities in which I'd like to partake. Regardless, my friends and I made a snowman..err, snowmound, whom we lovingly dubbed Randy Beowulf Duwheelthy. (Duwheelthy is a hybrid of our last names. Lacrimans should be able to pick up the Beowulf reference! And, Randy... well, he just looks like one.) Anyway, we each posed for a snapshot with good ol' Randy for the scrapbook. (Yeah, so what, I scrapbook! We got beef?)

Yes I would Jamie, I don't even like Christmas that much It's true, I really am now fedup with it, It's nice for children and even better if one has their own children.

I have a fibre-optic tree up in my living room with some presents for Effee, she loves christmas and that is the only reason the tree is up, I have holidays and Effee cannot, so really christmas is for her.

I find that people in general are very plastic around christmas time and as miserable as sin come January, so yes I would leave the UK at the drop of a hat.

The temperature I feel at home in is about 30-05 C.

Rambling.. new [re: JamieSim]

Thats terrible!
I rememeber my best freind in elementary school...she fell on a patch of ice and almost hit her head on a gaint snowball that was part of a wall of a fort. A bunch of kids around laughed, we got mad, arguments insued. The teacher stuck up for the kids laughing, I rememeber being so PISSED! lol. Then, after recess, we went in, and some kid was making a comment..I stood up in front of the whole class, and yelled at them for being mean and rude.( but THAT teacher for the class stood and watched in the doorway-came in when I stormed out and said what I had said was true) Then I went to find the freind, who was in the nurses office.
A few years later, the same freind I had stuck upfor was talking bad shit about a freind of ours who had dyslexia, and took a "special" math class. I beat the hell out of her in school cafteria.
Gosh, I didn't realize I was so violent.

Where are ya then?

I am an architect, they call me a butcher
I am a pioneer, they call me primitive
I am purity, they call me perverted

That first picture reminds me of images I had in my mind when reading Jane Eyre

I do feel at peace in the bleakness of Norfolk, I hardly see anyone on the walks, which is how I prefer it really, both Effee and myself are quite anti-social really, I don't mean that in a horrible way, It's just that in my job I am surrounded by people and to escape into this bleak landscape is bliss, the silence is wonderful.

Effee's not keen on other dogs and I not keen on other people much, they bore me.

What I call our Yellow Brick Road...

As it happens Alan, yes I am slighty colour blind, I meant Yellow as in our escape from the modern world.

I don't think that definition of Yellow has been approved yet

Maybe it will, or maybe it won't, but do you chance using it prematurely?

These two photos taken today ( 29th December 2005 ) are from mine and Effee's daily walk in the winter time.

You know what's wrong with those pics? Snowy Effee's missing from them

Here's one more pic from the Christmas day. Helsinki at the moment is extremely dull. It's now about +1 degree celcius and all the snow we had is melting and everything's just wet and gray.

But if you're gonna dine with them cannibals, sooner or later, darling, you're gonna get eaten

Lovely photos, thanks Kati I did post in the "Christmas Furry ones" a photo of Effee in the snow.

Let's see how you see these colours? please bare in mind that I am colour blind.

These traffic light colours have always plagued me, I see the top colour as purple ( what do you see ) the middle colour is yellow ( as for your view ) and the bottom colour is blue to my eyes ( and you see what? ) this is how I see colours, It's how I've always seen colours, imagine the confusion

Re: Do you have snow yet? new [re: diamondogz74]

No, we don't. We had some at some point in December, then some hot wave melted it and we were snowless for Xmas. We're still snowless and happy as of this point. (I'm a bit windy from all the Xmas turkey but that's just me)

Oh, in that photo she looks a lot like my ex-neighbor's dog, who, unfortunately, has been long dead now. But that dog was just... Well, he had his own personality and he was very wise. Seemed like he just understood everything.
