Re: From Space To Boston And On To Nirvana new [re: EJ]

In reply to:

And doesn't that Boston break riff resemble the legendary key riff of a certain song under the title of "Space Oddity"?

And this reminds me that Boston apparently fed loads of musical data into a computer to come up with MTAF and the entire album it appears on. Remember that? This would easily explain the similarity between Space Oddity and the aforementioned song. As I recall, when that info was leaked it was the beginning of the end for Boston.

It is my opinion and I am unanimous in this, because it is my opinion, which is, in fact, mine.

I noticed one day after hearing Jennifer Lopez's "I'm Real" that it sounds exactly like Rick James' "Mary Jane". She definitely used most of the stuff from that song in hers.

A Warm Place and Crystal Japan both sound a lot like Who Fuckin Cares to me.

To be equal you have to add or subtract and I have never liked math.

Wow, am I the only Coldplay fan?

Well, calling me a Coldplay fanatic would be a little exaggerating, but "Speed of Sound" was one of my 2005 favorites, both song and video. And I don't mind that the title steals from both "Speed of Life" and "Sound and Vision", and that the neon lights are just the color version of the background of the Station to Station tour.

But then we must never forget that bashing pop music is popular at TW. Good to see that nothing changes over New Year's day.

Coldplay are not in my top ten, but I don't mind a lot of their stuff. I actually like it when people take bits of other songs and work around them. Bowie does it enough, on STATIONTOSTATION he takes the start of the Yardbirds version of Good morning little schoolgirl to make TVC15 and a piano motif from Mama's and Papa's version of I CALL YOUR NAME for the third section of the title track.

Bashing pop music may be popular at TW, but that shouldn't diminish the fact that Coldplay is fliffy, haphazard crap.

have you ever noticed that Nick Lowe's I love the Sound of Breaking Glass, sounds alot like Bowie's Sound and Vision. Also there is that homage to him in the title.

Icehouse's No Promises sounds like This Is Not America.

Not forgetting that he put out an EP called BOWI in response to LOW.

I don't think that's more true of TW than the general populace. I just think that beyond Bowie and the 5 or 6 bands people associate with him, there's a pretty broad spectrum of tastes here, so that everyone's bound to hate something.

Or, to look at it a different way: I feel that, for the most part, everyone here likes some division of pop music, myself included, even if they don't think of it as such.
