Wanted to buy: All Bowie RCA CDs new

Hi. I'd like to buy the entire David Bowie RCA CD series. They must be sealed, brand new, and unopened. I'm willing to pay up to $20 each for these, including the compilations.

I guess I'm just an old sentimentalist. I like to buy old-fashioned, obsolete things just for the memories.

Is there a reason why you didn't post this in the Pervert's forum?

He'll have you wrestling midgets in border towns for ten percent of the net.

And your next joke is?

These RCA cds fetch big sums of money used ( I've bought a few ) as for wanting them sealed and prepared to pay as much as $20.00 each You really should take a look on eBay sometime.

You'd best be prepared to offer three times that much and still you'd be disappointed.

I paid 40.00 for a new sealed Japanese RCA mint condition Young Americans with the wording in Japanese down the spine.

Good luck

No way that you're getting them 100% mint for $20 each, mate. You've got to prepare for approx. $100 for one CD if you want them unopened, sealed and brand new.
They were pressed in 1984, ffs!

Because to me it's a very special Bowie album, the first one I bought with my own money, It holds very many dear memories, It's also my favourite ever Bowie album, It gives me immense pleasure to own this RCA cd album.

As individuals we all place importance on different things, what may be of little interest to one, Is someone elses treasure.

I'm 94% with you up to here (deduct 6% because I think YA was probably the 6th or 7th or so Bowie CD I bought), what I'm missing is this part:

Why does this particularly expensive version of the album give you immense pleasure? Is the Japanese text along the spine particularly pretty looking? Is it just the pleasure of owning a CD that cost you $60*? Does this particular CD sound 5.5x better than the other available versions?

I don't mean to pick on you here, Dogz.** I'm not wholly unsympathetic to the collector's urge; given the choice between a regular edition and a deluxe version with a bonus disc full of outtakes I will surely never listen to, I'm still likely to buy the deluxe. I've even recently considered spending $30 on an out-of-print CD I used to have on cassette. But unless you're a total audiophile asshole (which I don't think you are), and unless the Japanese version sounds at least twice as good on your audiophile asshole equipment (which it may, but I'm not about to pay $60*** to find out), it just doesn't make sense to me.

You know I cannot actually give you a logical reason Marquis, there is no logical reason, other than that it holds many private memories of early unrequited love, yes the spine in Japanese is very pretty as is the inside text.

I think more than any other reason for treasuring this Japanese version more is the fact that it's different, simply that, with the added mystery of far away places.

All I know is I was very pleased to have won my bid on eBay for such a wonderful album, I have never played the CD, It is on display in my study.

My two pence worth [re: diamondogz74]

Now I think I might have mentioned this before, but for me, if I was getting something just for display, i would get the vinyl. I would much prefer a 12"x12" picture on my wall than a reduced 5"x5" facsimile of the artwork, size which does nothing to show the greatness of the artwork. You say this album holds particular memories for you, well those memories would have been with the vinyl album, so again, getting a copy of that would be better. Fancy the Japanese writing? Get the original Japanese vinly edition with obi.

I did at one point contemplate getting the RCA editions of TMWSTW and STS because they had the alternate artwork for the albums, but, I have them on album, so I have better quality copies of the artwork already.
