"Estranged" is the one that springs to my mind first too but still I opt for another one as their best: "Welcome To The Jungle". That track has all the greatness, wildness, skill, tune and Rock 'n' Roll which the band stood for when they were at their finest.
Top 5:
1 Welcome To The Jungle see above
2 Sweet Child Of MIne got me hooked on the guys and still has some of the finest guitar ever recorded.
3 Estranged indeed a magnificent epic and a true killer at ther live gigs.
4 Nightrain always overlooked powerful rocker from the exciting debut album.
5 Mr. Brownstone another GnR theme song and that "I used to do a little, but the little wouldn't do it ..." line is pure genius.
And I want to believe that a light's shining through somehow

Download the Estranged video if you want to laugh till you cry!
Just watched it on youtube, it must have cost more than the Matrix trilogy.
But what's more embarrassing, the dinosaur, the dolphins or the band's attitude? I'm confused.
Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness - and it's all over much too quickly.

wal mart was originally Discount City,so the best of all possible gnr would have been a weird al version of Paradise City

I heard that GnR had to re-record their albums a little bit softer in order to sell internationally. Apparently *some* countries are a little faggy.

Sweet Child'O Mine is the best thing they ever did. They probably never topped their first album for consistency. My favorites on it are Child, Mr. Brownstone and Rocket Queen.
I also like One in A MIllion and Used to Love her- from their second album. The acoustic side is much better than the concert material on "G'N"R Lies".
I pretty much agree with all this, also love Welcome to the Jungle and Patience. Never got into their later stuff, was over them by then. But Appetite and the acoustic side of Lies are both brilliant, every note on them.

yeah, I always wondered by Use Your Illusion was overblown into two albums when it was really unecessary to do so.
In the meantime, Appetite is ONE album.... and one of the very best rock albums ever
