The Deuce's cousin is Gilby Clarke.

Yup. Catch him on Rockstar on CBS, playing with Tommy Lee and Jason Newstead in a new band called "Supernova". There's a lawsuit right now trying to stop them from using the name, as there's already a CA band called Supernova. You may see the tag line on the show, calling it "The Tommy Lee Project" to try and avoid some of the hassles.

Are you in close contact with Gilby, Duece? Has he ever said anything about the GnR split?

We email back and forth a good bit. Gilby kinda came in later in the scene. The Use Your Illusions albums had already been recorded, and they were going to do a tour when Izzy Stradlin left to form the JuJu Hounds, so they snagged Gil for the tour. It's funny, because he's in the videos for most of those songs, though he didn't play on them. He went into the studio twice with them: once for Sympathy for the Devil cover for Interview with a Vampire, and once on the Spaghetti Incident album.
They'd been at a hotel after recording S.I. and Axl pretty much just came around and told him there'd be no need to stick around, there'd be no tour or anything else, it was pretty much done.
Gilby went out and did Pawnshop Guitars, which had the hit "Cure Me Or Kill Me" which got some good radio play, and the album got good reviews. Since then he's pretty much done solo gigs, put out about five albums (most of which have a Bowie cover, as he's a huge Ronno fan), and played backup for Heart, Nancy Sinatra, and M5 (I think that's there name).

Thanks for the info, Deuce. Gilby was a good replacement for Izzy, though he certainly had less of an impact on the band. But he was a very good live partner for Slash and he came across as a very positive guy. And that Gilby is a major Ronno fan makes me like him even more.
Give him my regards.

I caught the new lineup Guns N Roses at Rod Laver Arena about two weeks ago.
During the lead up music to the second concert, they played 'Cracked Actor' by Duff McKagan in addition to the title track of Bowie's 'Scary Monsters'.
A further reference in both concerts was Dizzy Reed (the keyboardist) playing 'Angie'.
Other than that, the concert was pretty solid with mainly old favourites and a sprinkling of the forthcoming(?) Chinese Democracy. The only disappointment was that the second night was largely a repeat of the first.......right down to the solo jams between songs.

His form was more filled out than in 1991 and the hair more braided! But vocally and performance wise, it was the same Axl.

Yes! I was actually tempted to scalp my second night ticket (and kinda wish I did seeing it was just a repeat).
