In reply to:

McCartney's Memory Almost Full is due on June 5.

According to the Age article the weekend before last, Memory Almost Full is an anagram of "For My Soulmate, LLM" (Linda Louise McCartney).

When questioned about it, McCartney's answer was "Some things are best left a mystery".

You'd think that not having a prenup with Heather Mills would make him re-think that stance.

Digitalism - Idealism

A couple of German dudes with a terrible name a great sound. They're billed as Daft Punk meets Franz Ferdinand, which is pretty much exactly what they sound like. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, but when it does ("Magnets," "I Want I Want," "Idealism") its foot-stompin' goodness.

White Rabbits - Fort Nightly

A nice debut on a teensy label means it'll probably be until they sign with someone with a bit more muscle for them to get the spread they deserve already. Think maybe a happier version of The Walkmen, with some serious Specials influences. Even better live than on record, and the non-album tracks I've heard promise great things to come.

They let the retard in the game and he went wild.

Bad Brains!!! Not only have they reissued their first release, Bad Brains, on ROIR, but they've a new one coming out June 26 titled "Build a Nation," which Adam Yautch produced. This band put on one of the best shows I've seen, switching from manic punk songs in 2/4 time to jah-love-like reggae songs, leaving the crowd swaying out of slamming stage diving.

The Young Gods, Fragmente: I'd forgotten about this band of Swiss origins until their latest release fell in front of my ears. It's a pretty good combo of grindy guitars, crunchy electronics and familiar vocals, not unlike that of The Cult. By in large this is a solid release, with only a few klunkers.

Miles Hunt, Not an Exit: Lead singer for the Wonder Stuff releases a strong solo effort w/fiddler and drummer from TWS. Anyone who knows TWS and their Hup release will likely enjoy this one. Otherwise, check out tracks at MySpace under theactualmileshunt.

It is my opinion and I am unanimous in this, because it is my opinion, which is, in fact, mine.

Stuff to look forward to? Er, well, I think Autolux have something due out in the next couple of months . . . you can tell my finger's on the pulse.

Anyone heard that new "instrumental" Lou Reed album? No, me neither.

That 'song' is a complete outrage. Over 40 years in the music business and he tells us "Everyone's gonna dance tonight, everyone's gonna feel alright"... and that's about all?

Disgraceful, isn't it? I once stated on a Beatles forum that the wrong one was shot. It didn't go down too well. McCartney's greatest offense though has always been his lyrics which are too simplistic and trite. Lennon, on the other hand, was one of rock's finest lyricists.
