This one isn't a 'new release' - rather it's the reissue of Joy Division's back catalogue with bonus tracks.
Could be a goer.

So it's us old men who dig the WS, Tristan!
Old? Ok!
In reply to:
My professor is a fan too.
One of my best friends listens to the WS like I listen to Ms. B. That’s how I became a fan. I actually like ‘Icky Thump’ better than the other’s. ‘Elephant’ being my favorite until this new one.
In reply to:
Definitely agree with favourite tracks 10 and 12. But I only just started getting acquainted with it.
I have one of the old Sony ES CD players with the bank feature. It remembers a CD the way I like to hear it. This is what works for me. 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 7 in this order. I like to end it with the jig. The second jig, that is. Yeah, this is the best rock album of the year, so far. But VOLTA is still the best album period of the year.

A new Neil Young album Chrome Dreams II is to be released October 16 whilst a new Springsteen album Magic (apparently a return to rock) is to be released October 2.
In reissue news, Pink Floyd are about to release the 40th Anniversary Edition of their debut - Piper at the Gates of Dawn - as a 3 CD set.
Meanwhile, the new Radiohead is being delayed to 2008.

I'm not sure wether that merits a "God damn it" or an "uh oh". Maybe both.

The upcoming Animal Collective album, Strawberry Jam, has been leaked online. I'm enjoying it a lot. It follows the new direction set by 2005's Feels, which is more pop oriented than their first albums, but still experimental enough to be interesting.

flight of the conchords recently released an ep on sub pop entitled The Distant Future with a full length album to follow in february. also they've been asked for a new season of the show, though that appears contingent on whether or not they can write enough material for it now that they've used up almost all their existing songs.

Good, Substance has been in need of a good remastering for sometime now, though Closer will probably benefit the most. Though are the bonus tracks previously released? I thought they bled that well dry a long time ago...

new Springsteen album
Is this dude prolific or what? And he's what almost 60? Damn. So by "rock" we're talking the return of The E-Street Band on record I'm guessing?
In reply to:
Chrome Dreams II
Wonder if it will be metallic as it sounds? Especially after Living With War which is probably the greatest thing he's released since Rust Never Sleeps.

I thought this was released when Pink Floyd WEREN'T prone to overkill?

Hmmmm the weight of expectation goes from suffocating to crushing then. No doubt this is bad news. In the meantime why don't they just release a live album culled from last years shows?

The question being, for this and the studio album, who's gonna release it? Their deal with EMI is up, and they aren't expected to re-up.

Ive been listening to the Manic Street Preachers new album, Send Away the Tigers. It's a real grower. For me it's their best effort yet.

I don't get the fuss at all about either Editors or Interpol. Do people actually enjoy this tripe, or does it sound morose enough for music journalists to "respect" it and pass on their gangrenous opinions to others?
I had never heard of interpol when a friend whacked Turn On The Bright Lights on my stereo over 4 years ago and it blew me away. Sure, they became media darlings and hit the big one with their second album (which never quite did it for me) but the point is.... just cos you don't like them doesn't mean everyone else does cos of what a journalist says
