Claude, while I can understand you not liking his early acoustic music, you should check out Bob Dylan at Budokan which is more or less a live greatest hits album, with a huge band where all the songs have been re-arranged into pop masterpieces. It's irresistible.

Fez proved himself early on with several unique covers including ones from Dylan ('A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall') but that's along time now. I can only approach his new material with growing caution. Might be a downloader.

I really can't stand Bob Dylan either BUT I don't mind a few of his songs - I don't mind them being covered by other people at all. But I'm with Claude here - the cover is crap too.

However I will be interested in a listen. Not as exciting as a new Stooges album, or a new LCD Soundsystem album... or even the Black Pony Express album.

The most exciting thing I've heard recently is the new Fall album - Reformation Post-TLC - which is stunningly good.

In reply to:

might be first recommendation of that album i've ever heard. i've only heard snippets from listening stations, but maybe i'll buy it now. i really like the album 'street legal', the tour for which included the budokan date if i'm not mistaken. and the musical arrangements for the tour were in a similar polished big band style to the album. dylan peforming vegas-style: most people don't like it, i get a kick outta it

I'm guessing it sounds like his other 7,483 albums?

They let the retard in the game and he went wild.

Bob Dylan at Budokan was the soundtrack of the summer of 79 for me. I spent a month having a holiday in London, smashed morning noon and night, eating Greek food and listening to Dylan and Patti Smith's Wave. I have great affection for Budokan. I don't understand how anyone could not love it.
