Hahah, did you hear it from the Ugly Betty commercial or something?

Meanwhile, I have revised my stance on Patrick Wolf. His music is really beautiful. I will not doubt Mr. Mika again.

Just realized that this summer's best chart hit (which I posted a thread about) is probably Mika's "Love today". Hysterically happy!
By a noselength it beats the umbrella song.

It's LABRYNTH, idiot!

The funniest thing to me about "Love Today" is how different it is when he does it live. The album version (and early performances on tv shows) is all disco-sugar-on-amphetamines, but the stage version he does now is surprisingly tougher and rock-ier (while still being on amphetamines, ha), and at the end of it he whips off his shirt and starts banging on a trash bin and jumping all over his drummer's drum kit and breaking stuff. It's amazing for crowd energy, but definitely not something I'd have ever imagined when listening to the song on CD.

Example: Early album-like "disco" version that makes me smile.

Current "harsher" version.

I really do love how he can work his songs in almost any setting, from full-band backup like the links above, to simple keyboard-and-guitar, to just accompanying himself on the piano.
