Gyllenhaal's No Bakula [re: ]

So, whattaya make of the trailer for Source Code? Looks like Quantum Leap by way of 12 Monkeys, no?

The parallels between Moon and "Space Oddity" were almost too on the nose, but this makes you wonder: just who was the "Ziggy" that Dean Stockwell was always talking to, hmmm???????

It's yet more mainstream Hollywood bollocks. We need more European "Art Cinema" not more Tits and Explosions

The asexuality doesn't even enter into it - there was no mention of asexuality in this thread until Quills/dogz and you brought it up. My references to wanking were to do with blinkered taste in movies, not sexuality/asexuality/whatever.

I Have Saved TW new [re: K]

You guys! I am so proud!

My opinion-free reporting of a minor news item has devolved into a vintage Dogz thread with THIRTY posts! Doesn't it totally feel like 2002 all over again?

Anyway, yeah, what were we talking about? Art film? Well, the easiest and thus most correct way to determine whether something is art or not is to think about where you saw it:

-- Was it hanging on the wall of a gallery? Then it was ART
-- Was it spraypainted on the outside wall of the gallery? Then it was NOT ART
-- Did I see that movie at Angelika/IFC/Film Forum/(insert the name of local cinema with poor projection and uncomfortable seating here)? ART!
-- Did I see that movie at a Loews/AMC multiplex? NOT ART

So there you have it - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is not art. If you want to expand your personal definition of art to include such qualities as "truth" and "beauty" and "heartbreaking honesty about human relationships" then you could probably squeeze it in, but that's on your head, bub.

And now, because old habits don't die, I just have to ask:

In reply to:

Your post just confirms you had no idea what Dogz was about and still haven't!!!

OK, no, I won't ask, because obviously there's no way you'd ever just come out and *say* what Dogz was "about," no, that'd be too easy.

So a simpler question: was there ever anyone at TW who you feel DID get what Dogz was about?

Re: What is this thread about anyway? new [re: ziggfried]

OK, Ziggfried. I retract my previous retraction of the post about wanking and speak my mind once again.

What I always saw in the "dogz affair" was bullying. It has the classic hallmarks; people see someone they don't understand and they respond with aggression. As in:

In reply to:

You want to know what a tragic joke is? (...) middle-aged weirdo (...) I figure you're either an emotionally-stunted retard

When one sees this going on it is one's duty to speak up. Hence I make this fight my business:
1. I never saw dogz make a racist comment -- be that as it may; if he did, then you have no right to criticize that before you do the same to Strawman or Monkeyboy.
2. What you misconstrued as "flooding the boards" could also be seen as being chatty and friendly.
3. Dogz has a personal punctuation style (and never has an impersonation been as bad as yours, ziggfried) and people get all crazy about it. Why not turn against bowiefanpeter, then?? He even stopped using those commas but people just won't leave it alone.
4. As for the

Emil, If you perceived the "dogz affair" to be bullying, then you either aren't aware of, or are willfully ignoring, the period of time when Dogz went out of his way to basically insult and antagonise as many people on this site as he could - before later on trying to cosy up to people and make out that he was the victim. Since you seem to be an intelligent person, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you missed this thread. If you're going to flame threads with insults, you can't turn around and claim you're being picked on.

And if we're talking about "sad" behaviour...A grown-up man (?) playing dress-up with his dog and posting pictures of it (and warbling about "untarnished love") goes well beyond "sad" and into the realm of "disturbing."

Oh yes, those were the good days when we were such great friends.

Looking at my PM indox of the time since I got moderator status, the contents fall neatly into three categories: You making threats to me, other posters voicing their complaints about you to me in private (presumably to avoid getting a flood of insults from you if posted publicly) and then the more pleasant stuff of talking about Gary Numan with ziggfried.
