Message from Bowie Zone - BowieClone - Daftzone... new

Hi folks,

I am Madman from Bowie Zone. It's very nice to meet you all.

Hopefully you will all lend me your ears for a minute or two and allow me to put something to you - I hope so.

A little while ago a couple of people from TW joined BZ and made some silly comments and posted some silly pictures, so they were banned - fair enough? Maybe not, you might think - but so be it.

Then, we (at BZ) overreacted a little and started banning people from TW that had done no harm at all at BZ - yes, this was a bit OTT and I apologize for it - we all make mistakes don't we?

So, here it is - I have scrapped the ban list at Bowie Zone and would like to invite anyone that wants to join our site to do so, including all those that have previously been banned. As long as everyone sticks to our very simple rules there should be no problems - that I can see anyway.

I hope we can all put this silliness behind us now. Maybe you'll all just think I'm a prat and you won't to join us anyway - that's fair enough.

Hope to see you over at BZ sometime soon, but if not - oh well...

Best wishes,

Madman

Still Daft new [re: BZoneMadman]

Re-joining a board which holds ddogz in high regard and probably finds even his username fuhrerling funny? Rather not.

But then again I could register as Scary Saddam or as Abu Ghraibling, appropriate avatar included. Would that get me a new ban or would I be accepted among the in-crowd around fuhrerling?

And I want to believe that a light's shining through somehow

Wow. The only thing more amusing than the fact you felt nescessary to post this here (instead of posting it on your own board, which would have served the same purpose) is that you felt moved to start a separate thread for this (when there already is an active thread dealing with this subject).

I mean, doesn't really incite me to drop everything and register at BowieZone, but I think we can drop the insults and acknowledge that this is kinda classy.

Oh wait, I forgot, this is TW. We don't do class.

I've got class dripping out of my ass you decrepit methwhore.

I'm curious to know what the BowieZone rules are, though. Not that I plan on signing up, but just a general interest question: what are y'all offering me there that I don't have at TW? Or more to the point, what TWisms that I'm accustomed to here will be on the no-no list at BowieZone?

Born Ruffians was a good call, btw new [re: Marquis]

Well, calling Dogz dumb is verboten from the get-go, which kinda rules you (and, uh, a lot of people) out.

Kudos for Madman's response.

I'm not interested in posting at BZ, but I would browse the topics from time to time. For instance, I like to drop by at BWW once a month to keep my whine immunisation levels at a steady intensity for P-Lo's inevitable return, and to get a feel for anything urgent I think ought to be happening at TW. Hence, I would only register at BZ to read the fora.

Which begs the question, why are the fora 'hidden' in the first place? Why should I sign up when I've no idea what I'm signing up to? Or is that the pull?

Sweetness, sweetness, I was only joking when I said I'd like to smash every tooth in your head . . .

I suggest you cunts update your list of rules: I just got banned again for swearing in my posts, even though the rules explicitly say that's not forbidden. Well, is swearing a bannable offense or not? If you're gonna ban people for such silly reasons, you should at least be upfront about it. It would be polite to warn any mildly intelligent potential poster that they shouldn't bother with your shithole, is all I'm saying.

By the way, TotalBlamBlam, about the PM you sent me before banning me... Do the views on TW you shared with me there represent BowieNet's official posture, or just BowieZone's?

Hmmm, I was once a member of BNet (I had to join to get tickets for the 2004 gigs) and had to give them my full name, address and credit card details to pay for the membership and receive my Live & Well CD. So, the inherent difficulties of actually proving a breach of data privacy laws on the other side of the planet notwithstanding, and …

a) given their stated antipathy towards me because I had the temerity to be pleased that the poison that was Dogz had finally been banished from TW

b) given the shit that I’ve stirred up across the online Bowie community in the last couple of days, in an effort to find out why I was banned, which has cast BZone in a bad light (at least to anyone with half a brain)

…this could mean that, potentially, Dogz could have access to my personal information. That psycho monster could know my name, know where I live (though actually I’ve moved since, but it wouldn’t take five minutes on White Pages to figure out where to), be able to quote my credit card number.

Time I got off the internet, changed banks and moved states. Goodbye all! I’ve always wanted to live in Queensland. No, Tasmania. No, South Australia. No….

I'm not saying that we should sue or anything but maybe if someone sent a strongly-worded email to the site's host it would be nice. They might want to know that the people they are dealing with is causing their good name to be dirtied by associating with a group of people who advertise one thing and offer just about the opposite.

The official calendar new [re: BZoneMadman]

To be fair, BowieZone is clearly far cooler than us... after all they even have their own Calendar created by Madman featuring pictures of prominent board members. Just imagine turning the pages of your Calendar to October to find a big picture of Dogz stood feet apart on a Turkish Cruise ship. Wow.

And it's a mere snippet at £7.81. It even has it's own copyright, clearly to prevent anyone from attempting to create the Unoffical Bowiezone Calendar which I'm sure many people would otherwise be tempted to do.

Seriously though, if I were to create an Official TW calendar and market it for about £10... how many of you would buy it? (If I get enough replies I am of course going to make one...)

BowieClone is too fascist for Dogz new [re: K]

While this thread was resurrected, I had a quick glance over there to see how BowieClone were getting on. It's only a week in, and already the shit has hit the fan.

One of the most responded-to threads is John Galliano's sacking by Dior.

Madman (the admin) is sympathetic to Galliano's claim ('I love Hitler'). Madman believes that 'Dior acted too quickly. Galliano was obviously very drunk'.

Dogz (under a new name) replies with his characteristic series of oddly placed question marks and randomly capitalised words: 'Drink, drugs whatever?... Is NO excuse for this vile/evil behaviour. This revolting little man is only a clothes designer.' (Nowadays, clothes designers and other people/professions of base stock have the temerity to have political views. He is not revolting because he has fascist views, of course, but because he has a job on the level of, I dunno, a hospital floor mopper.)

Sensing that he is losing ground to one of the forum's heavyweights, Madman retorts with this precise putdown: 'Only a clothes designer? Why is that not an important profession? If there were no clothes designers we would all be walking around nude!' (Obviously. Without our prized fashion designers, it would never occur to anyone to tip the contents of a charity collection bag over their heads and wear tanktops constructed out of flannel dusters, christmas-tinsel laced loin cloths, and tri-cornered ten-gallon hats. )

Here, Claude makes a guest appearance to defend drunken fascists with a series of bon mots such as 'in vino vertias', and Bowie's 'I believe very strongly in fascism' from Playboy. The inference is presumably that Bowie once said it, so it must be true. And surely no one would be daft enough to jeopardise their status as a True Fan™ at BC by contradicting what Bowie once said?

Dogz makes the perfectly reasonable point that Galliano's thoughts had not come out of nowhere; that they were indeed his and liquor had released thoughts he had previously suppressed. He argues that no one of a compassionate and sensible mind would agree with or defend those remarks.

Madman (admin) replies with, 'So I am not compassionate and sensible?' Peculiarly, he's taken to defending Galliano's comments as if they were his own. Or he's preparing a defence along the lines that 'being intolerant of Nazis is fascist, too!!!'

The argument, however, terminates when Dogz tires of the stupidity of his gladiatorial opponent and unexpectedly unregisters himself: 'I find your attitude most disturbing. Therefore I must leave BowieZone.'

Good old days!

I'm not sure if I ever even realized I had been banned. I must have visited BZ only once.

Back when I was still a student I wanted to give a presentation about TW and related things, but I decided I didn't have enough material. Though, I did mention the tubgirl thing and the Pink Floyd incident as side notes in some other presentation I did.

Ah, the memories ...

The Dogz equivalent of when Paulie says "I must turn my back on you now" to Henry Hill in GoodFellas?

It also sounds like something Darth Vader might say before initiating a force powered choke hold. In many respects Dogz has the same effect in that I nearly died from laughing at the sheer inanity of his statement.

Yeah, I thought of "I find your lack of faith disturbing!" too. Also, Nixon's "Therefore, I shall resign the presidency, effective at noon tomorrow!"

Clearly I'm totally out of touch (what's new?). I have no idea what a Bowie zone is (I do have some frankly ambiguous memories of something called the Bowie Area).

Does Bowienet still exist?

Sorry, I'm all out of glib wit

Dogz was fully inline with the folks from fascistzone when they were praising George W. Bush for his war in search of the wepaons of mass destruction. I got banned there back then for speaking up against Bush and his supporters on that site.

You mean the Church of Areaology?

Bowie sites may come and go, but the Church of Areaology is always ... a prominant fixture.

Aye, that's the one Prism. A veritable giant in the ring of Labyrinth inspired sites.
