These Titles They Give Us...

So... does anyone have the chart, or whatever, with the number of posts it takes everytime you change into a different poster name? Like, I was hardly a Mortal With Potential for any time at all, and I thought it was such a sweet name. ;)

Here is the thread I got it from. It's in lots of threads - you could search for it. Meanwhile, bowiefanpeter has the most posts at over 2200, so the smart money was wrong.

I agree that Evan can probably add them as we go. During his 'away-time', bfp passed the 2200 mark and so it's too late to make that the cut off. It did seem to be the next logical step. Perhaps 2300? So far bfp is the leader, but I'm gaining nicely. This is my life purpose.

I think it's fair to point out that a good amount of bfp's post-collecting went on about a year ago, during a debacle that I'm sure no one wants to revisit, except that it spawned this power2charm gem. What's especially funny is that that post is in a thread about the original topic of this one.

Dear Peter has grown up, however, and is now exclusively a News, Views, and Questions resident, it would seem, while Kirk, bored, is all over the boards. I'd take the piss out of him for that, except that I can relate.

Edit: Wow, that thread is a trip and a half down memory lane. Besides early posts from old legends, it's worth noting that when bfp had just become a Cracked Actor, Kirk was a grinning soul!

My posting has just been consistent for the fist 8 months i was here. I did do 80 posts in one day, but that was just once, i did 30 posts the next day. but then i was back down to no more than 10 a day or so. I don't post unless it is vitaly important to the MB.

That said, i will gladly race Kirk to 2,500 posts if he is feeling nimble!

That would probably put an end to those posts we get every few months saying "What are those titles below our names for?"

Adding to the FAQ new [re: Starlight696]

Unfortunately, I cannot edit the FAQ as "moderator", but this can be done by an "administrator" (Evan).

In the early days, Evan said "I don't want to give away all the titles, but believe me, there are a lot of levels to go". Many of the titles have now been "revealed" via users such as Kirk and bowiefanpeter, so I guess there could be a reference in the FAQ. I'm not sure whether we would place all the titles thus far, or merely a sample. Lets keep in mind your request for when Evan returns. There are also a few other FAQ that could be added, such as information on pictures beside posts.

I am what I play!

Re: Adding to the FAQ new [re: Adam]

I find it charming to discover what are the new titles when someone just reach them. However, people has been asking what are the titles for ages - since the begin of Conversation Piece.

Maybe we could just create a thread in here - "Here are the hierarchy of the titles under our names" and go replying when we find out more levels.

It could be more useful than posting in the FAQ - no one reads the FAQ anyway but people reads the boards!

Another board I particpate in has peeps being able to choose their own title after 1000 posts. I've been here since day 1 of the 'new' TW boards and I'm only just over 1500 posts, do we have to wait till 5000 to choose our own? It's rather fun when everyone has earnt their own titles but it's goig to take a long time or some extreme time/bandwidth wasting to get to 5000 for most of us.

So what, Adam's supposed to spend all of his time granting new titles to everyone who's been here for over 12 months or something? That seems like a waste to me, particularly since there will then be about 20 threads of 'So what do you think my title should be?' or 'I don't like my new title, Adam, can you change it for the 14th time?'

In conclusion, who cares about titles?

Now relax, SLC.

My point was that TW already offers you usernames, gifs, sigs, etc., so do we *really* need personalized titles? Personally, I kind of like the fact that they're uniform, as it gives you a rough idea of how long someone's been around/how much they contribute.
If I had to vote, I'd have voted against Sysyio and Claude getting special titles. But I don't really care all that much.

OK, I won't Stu Out on Yoooooooooo new [re: Marquis]

Yeah I get your point. But in reality, considering bandwidth etc are big issues, I'd rather see the gifs go out the door and personalised titles after say, 2000/2500 posts come in. A couple of words doesn't take up bandwidth on the site but gifs take up much more, especially considering the amount that are used on every page.
One of these days I'll set the trend and get rid of mine (I think it's glitterbot who already has?). But while they're still here, I still kind of like the little Balloon man so I'll keep him a tad longer.

It took me over three years to get over 5000 posts... and, I must admit, much of that was archieved by posting a lot of crap, particularly during my first year. Also, there is the fact that apparently there are no new titles after Acolyte. Oh, sorry Emil, I didn't realise that English was a second language for you - your written english is very good (though I should have guessed - Emil is not a common name in the English-speaking world). The use of the word "silly" at the end of a sentence is not usually meant to be insulting, rather it is almost kindly - something a parent might say to a child when telling them that they've made a slight mistake. Of course, I can't speak for Cucumber, she may not have meant it that way.
