People's private reactions to me regarding this thread have generally been of the "have you really been getting pop up adverts?" variety. In fact, I believe there's only been one other user that's mentioned getting them too.

I've had them before, too. Seems like that "find your lost classmates" one mostly. And there has been one, for a watch I think, that starts at the bottom of the screen and climbs its way up slowly. That's how I can gauge how many beverages I've had, by my reaction time in clicking it shut.

I just got one of those ads... can't remember what it was for, but it's the first time. And here's a clue... I'm on a IBM PC platform presently. Usually, I use a Mac... and haven't had any pop-ups on it.
I dunno...

Okay, that fucking watch is getting on my nerves. It's like a low-rent video game.

There are (*cough*) programs to kill the popups (and unders) before they establish themselves, if that is the sort of thing in which one is interested.
My apologies to the webmaster.

Ah, that explains why I don't see any of these. I use a Mac or a FreeBSD box for all my browsing - so I don't run into these things personally.

I tried out a Winblows machine today, and indeed ran into the bloody watch thing.
I've nuked it from the list of potential advertisers - let me know if you see it again after today.

I once saw a pop-up ad that said "No More Pop-Up Ads!" It's getting ridiculous.

Hurrah! Thanks Evan!
I didn't mean to sound so cranky in my post -- I was actually smiling as made it. Although, the thing was getting irritating. Problem solved now.
