Evan, I really like those little pictures that pop up beside people's posts but the way I understand it, the option is one that must be purposely switched on through the EDIT PROFILE -> DISPLAY PREFERENCES feature. Perhaps it could have been switched on as default with the option to turn off if desired. Otherwise, I'm not sure how many people end up realising it's there.

Be elusive, but don't walk far...

To add your picture to the conversation piece profile, go to: "edit profile" and "basic profile". There is an option: Your Picture (Entire URL - Picture size is 65x75 pixels). You have to put the URL of a place with your picture... I see that you have a pic on your TW Members Registry- maybe you can put that link? Do you have a homepage or another site which has your picture on? :-)
Once you have put the link in this space, you click on "submit".

To be able to see the pictures of all the posters besides their names at the conv. piece, you have to go to "edit profile" and "display preferences". There is an option called "View user's pictures with their posts? (Only when post headers are on the side)". Click on the "yes". Submit.

That doesn't work too well, 'cause the size of the picture in the TW member area isn't the same as the size of the picture here at the message board. So everyone looks a little fat if they use your method.

I'd recommend not doing it this way at the moment... it makes another database request every time you do this which doesn't help the speed and reliability of the message boards.

It would be much better if you upload to your own site until I change the picture storage method to take it out of the database (you've just given me an incentive to do so ).

It is not good to use that method for uploading pictures.

Another method for uploading an icon is to attach the file you want to use to a post, and then find the URL for that attachment.

I am having no joy with this.

It says the size limit of the photo must be 65x75 so I tried adding in my TW profile photo but that's defaulted to 75x100 so it won't take it. ggrrrrrr

I have no other means of doing this or is there a way around this?

You should sign up for a bit of web space with a free host, then you can make a reference back to a photo on your homepage. http://www.homepage.com have a neat system for quickly setting up home pages and uploading photos. Otherwise, you could try Einar's method suggested above.

2. Click BASIC PROFILE
3. Under the field YOUR PICTURE, type the full web address of the image (URL). For instance, the web address of my image is: http://fatboybowie.homestead.com/files/evil2.jpg If you need to check the image address, right mouse click on the image you want (anywhere on the web) and choose PROPERTIES from the pop up menu.
