A Piss-Poor Time..............

I'm having around here right now.

'TW', is fast descending into 'Wonderland'.

Only difference being; TW, has better facilities.

Quit yer pissing new [re: Strawman]

If you don't like the threads, start interesting ones of your own.

If memory serves you've lobbed some real lame topics recently - jokey bullshit sort of things. My memory is deteriorating and I can't be bothered to search them, but I do recall thinking, "jeesh, this is all the more crap for having been authored by a 43 year old man."

For myself, I have a superb *topical* thread idea brewing, but I can't post it right now because it needs to percolate in my noggin a bit longer. Rest assured, it will rock TW to its crumbling foundation. Many will deny their lord three times before the cock crows when they read it!

I'll piss on your fireworks new [re: power2charm]

Never mind my shortcomings, address the issue.

That being the one, pertaining to the vast influx of newbies and their absurd posting. Not all of them, but the majority.

Their topics & posts make mine look positively stunning.

By your estimation, because I'm 42, I'll try to make my posts Einstein-like, to fit in with your high standards.

Just a piss new [re: Strawman]

Believe it or not, some might consider posting about the corduroy in one's wardrobe "absurd" - not me, but I demurred from that thread because I take my corduroy very seriously and did not want to discuss it in a lighthearted manner.

New posters come and go, very few stick in the craw for too long. If the bad ones are properly ignored, they leave soon enough. Unfortunately, they are replaced by others who also stink, and the cycle continues.

I should make it clear, that among posters there are the good, the bad and the T.J. Newtons. You are certainly among the decent ones, in my estimation, if for no other reason than you decline to discuss your erogenous zone(s). I thank you for that.

As that statement comes from cream of ye crop Mr TW, I'll deem it a compliment.

Christ! I'll be getting commendations off Mr TW- runner-up, Twister, next!

I trust you realise, I'll give both of you a good run for your money in the next one.

Is that an item of corduroy you're wearing in the pic, there?

a few 'dececent threads I tried to start new [re: Strawman]

Hey Strawman....I am pretty new here, but do hear what you are saying. When I first joined the forum, I wrote a few ( at least what i thought) interestinf thread topics. Ones that involved Bowie's music and career....the different eras, different bands and voices etc etc...

Maybe thtese topis had ben talked into the ground already...but I was suprised and a little disapointed that many of them got little or no response. I thought the topics were good grounds for some good discussion, but they often got overlooked. Especially when some of the most idiodic irrelevent threads went on and on and on!
And I always tried to contribute to threads that looked good to me, and were basd on the music...so it was not that issue.

At the same time, I enjoyed to replies I got and soem of the threads did take off....

To be honest, I find the list at Wonderworld to discuss Bowie and his music more than the TWL list....But they are both good...and vrry different places for sure.

Rob

Re: a few 'dececent threads I tried to start new [re: gtrobster]

Wonderworld is a single forum with fewer threads, posts and participants than TW. So at a glance, it may look like more Bowie discussion, but in actuality I think there is much less activity if we were to keep tabs.

The key is not to judge the Bowie discussion on Coffee Shop (that isn't necessarily the purpose of the forum) and take into account the variance in quantity and quality.

Re: a few 'dececent threads I tried to start new [re: Adam]

Agreed Adam...I admit it took me a while to realize coffee shop WAS a place to talk about whatever people want, Bowie or not. So I was in error wondering 'what the hell does this have to do with anything?'

for me, the News and Views and Interp are the interesting ones,
and there ARE some very knowledgable people there to be certain. And yes, there is much more posting going on here than at BWW.

My feeling is there is an average older age for the people at BWW, and lots of the moe frequent posters were fans in the 70s and saw many of those tours. so it gives a more direct account of the music and history.

at the same time, i am very happy people in their teens and 20s are still discovering Bowie, as I did when that age.
That is really the important thing, and TWL is a great chance for fans both new and old to learn and discuss.

no offense meant by making any comparisons of this site to any other...

Rob
