I have a theory that people coming to the site for the first time are generally out of Bowie interest but tend to click on the first forum on the list.

I don't think the order is as vital for regular visitors who are familiar with the ones they wish to visit.

So what I am suggesting is that the Bowie forums could be given a higher position up the list - something like:

BowieTalk
News, Views and Questions
Interpretation
Collectors' Corner

General
Coffee Shop
I Was an Artiste
Site Feedback

What do you think?

Actually that seems like a pretty good idea.

For the longest time I never went to NV&Q...and I really have no idea why. It didn't seem all that important...maybe its a subconcious thing?

Anyway, yes, I think that idea makes perfect sense, except anons can't post in anything but coffee shop, can they? That might get confusing. The current order seems to be non-member, then members only.

It can only be a good thing if anons can't find their way to the forum that will have them.

I agree that it's a great idea. I had reservations initially for a number of reasons, but upon further reflection, I've dismissed them.

Most other special interest boards with a "general" forum that I've seen are ordered as you suggest, Adam, with the namesake forums listed first and miscellaneous ones afterward.

Not a bad idea at all... however, it might get a bit confusing for the anon's, since the only anon-compatible forum would be the fourth on the list. but anyway, I agree with your suggestion as long as the forum's won't get as complex as this MB.
