I see the best minds of my generation...

...wasting their talents in the "Alphabet Song Surivor" threads.

This is a plea to the sense in you, in me, and in Evan, to put a stop to this. It saddens me to see creative minds like PHOENIX and twister in the worthless Alphabet Song Surivor threads. I have my own theory about twister. I think he is deliberately trying to...I don't know...he's up to something. He was once the most controversial, most hated, most loved poster, always looking for a fight, always causing a riot. And now this:

This reminds me of when Stefano Di Mera fooled everybody into believing that he was now a nice guy, and then when everybody had bought into it, he kidnapped Marlena (again). This is what I foresee happening here. A kidnapping. At least that's what I want to foresee.

In reply to:

[Glitterbot] But that show started going downhill when Susan and Little Elvis left.

Days started going downhill around that time, but I wouldn't say it was because Susan and her son left. I mean, when they left, Edmund left, so that was only a good thing. I think what happend was, the writers, or the producers, decided to go for realism, instead of surrealism. Because, up until that point, the show had been more twisted than Twin Peaks. I mean, Marlena possessed by the Devil himself! And John was about to get his head cut off by French midgets from the Paris underworld. Can't forget the episode where Ivan was drunk. My favourite character is Roman though. I like it when he's pissed. He yells and shouts and screams and the best thing about it is that he's so short.

We are a few years behind here. I think we get the 1998-1999 season right now. But I don't follow it or anything. I used to watch it every now and then like 2 years ago, but I stopped watching it when Stefano became good. That was too much.

Tricks new [re: eraserhead]

In reply to:

How did you do that?

One way you can do it is with ASCII codes. Yo puedo escribir en Espaol si quiero. Cmo no?

Using the "Alt" key and the number pad, you can basically send a command to display a particular ASCII character according to how they're numbered. For example, by pressing Alt+160, I can make an "". You can get lists of the codes for characters all over the net. Just Google.

You can also use the &-; model - I forget what it's called - to get your funky characters. For example, & ntilde; without the space between the ampersand and the code, produces ñ. I find this way more cumbersome than the Alt+x method, since you have to know the codes (I'm sure you can find a list, however), whereas with Alt+x method you can basically peck blindly until you stumble upon what you need.

And that is your lesson for the day.

But I think it's fun to compare tastes with fellow fans, and this is just a way of doing it that makes it into an easy to play game.

As for saying that some of TW's best minds are being wasted, well, that's a little harsh. Do you really think it shows a lack of intelligence in order to participate? Or that these "best mind" posters shouldn't post things that don't show intellience?

Well, that's my piece, and if this was all a big joke, as I suspect it is, then I've just made an idiot out of myself.

The initial post wasn't really about Alphabet Survivor, it was more about seeing the "best minds of my generation" (that's a line from Ginsberg; all cool rock stars quote it in their songs, so I thought I too should quote it) wasting their talents in Alphabet Survivor. I wouldn't mind Alphabet Survivor as much if it was just, you know, ziggylabyslavegirl016 and her friends who played it. But, at its core, Alphabet Survivor is a destructive, fascist game, because it's about voting the weak ones out. So that's two good reasons for this thread.

Another reason is (I think this is the strongest reason): I just want to have another blockbuster under my belt. That's what drives me these days. Sum 41, Spice Girls, and twister, that's basically what my posts will be about from now on.

So, basically, Eurovision, the Oscars, the Golden Palms in Cannes, Tour De France - all those events are fascist and destructive, aren't they?

When I said "ziggylabyslavegirl016" I was not refering to the poster zgylbyslvgrl_016. The name ziggylaby... goes back a long time. twister came up with the name back in September 2002. (Click here.) This Illinois girl, zgylbyslvgrl_016, registered at TW on May 19, 2003. So my comment, the one you comment on here, was not in comment to her, but to twister's archetype, or stereotype.

Also, I really don't give a shit about Alphabet Survivor or who plays it. This whole thread was just a joke. Sometimes I feel the urge to give the people of TW a good blockbuster. I see so many people visiting this place everyday and, truth be told here, there's not a lot of content, you know, not a lot of quality threads to read or post to, so I try to contribute a little something every once in a while, to help out. eraserhead, why you always defend yourself by saying you were joking, when you don't have anything left to say?

It's not defending. It's simply telling the truth. I can't help that you don't share my sense of humour. I can't help the fact that I love being alive so much that I always want to make jokes and smile. What can I say? I'm happy by nature. :)

But, okay, let's go through my original post step by step.

The subject line was:

I see the best minds of my generation...

...wasting their talents in the "Alphabet Song Surivor" threads.

"Best minds..." is a line from a Ginsberg poem. Did you really believe I consider twister and PHOENIX "the best minds of my generation"?? I mean, they're both smart and funny, but..."best minds of my generation", don't you think that's a pretty heavy statement? A statement that, alone, should make everybody realize this thread's a joke.

Then I went on to say:

This is a plea to the sense in you, in me, and in Evan, to put a stop to this.

Bringing Mr Evan into this clearly indicates that this is just me being silly. Did you really think I was that bothered by Alphabet Survivor that I wanted Evan himself to do something about it?

And this part:

This reminds me of when Stefano Di Mera fooled everybody into believing that he was now a nice guy, and then when everybody had bought into it, he kidnapped Marlena (again). This is what I foresee happening here. A kidnapping. At least that's what I want to foresee.

was recently quoted by JarethsGirl, who said she found it quite funny. It made her list of funniest TW quotes from the past few months.

So, in conclusion, you need to watch more Chevy Chase movies.

I don't think there's a point in a serious conversation with somebody who makes jokes all the time.

In reply to:

What can I say? I'm happy by nature. :)

Happy does not equal silly.

In reply to:

"Best minds..." is a line from a Ginsberg poem. Did you really believe I consider twister and PHOENIX "the best minds of my generation"??

Yeah, why the fuck not? Both PHOENIX and twister are intelligent (even though twister is a spoilt rude brat) so what's so strange about believing in it? See, eraserhead, when I say something I really do mean it. When I say JonnyManic is a total cretin, I mean it. When I say revidescent is hot, I mean it as well. Too bad you don't.

In reply to:

I mean, they're both smart and funny, but..."best minds of my generation", don't you think that's a pretty heavy statement?

But eraserhead, you are famous for heavy statements!!!

In reply to:

A statement that, alone, should make everybody realize this thread's a joke.

It seems that some of us didn't fulfil your expectations.

In reply to:

Bringing Mr Evan into this clearly indicates that this is just me being silly.

Well said, well done.

In reply to:

Did you really think I was that bothered by Alphabet Survivor that I wanted Evan himself to do something about it?

I wouldn't be surprised if you were. You're so sensitive and all that.

Tell me, is a joke worth a special thread? Because if this whole thread is not serious, then it's a utter waste of time.

Dumb and Dumber new [re: T.J. Newton]

In reply to:

Sorry, but for me it's only defending and excusing yourself.

Well, this is a pretty dumb statement. It's like I'd tell you, "I have a dog called Mimi" and you'd go, "No, for me it's a cow."

In reply to:

When I say JonnyManic is a total cretin, I mean it.

I don't really have any "favourite posters" but if I had, Jonny would be one of them.

In reply to:

Tell me, is a joke worth a special thread? Because if this whole thread is not serious, then it's a utter waste of time

This statement says, "I am even dumber than the two previous statements."

95% of all threads here on TW are joke-threads. I take the fact that you haven't recognized this as proof that you lack a sense of humour.

To use the words of Frank Black, I'm not saying my posts are caviar for the brain, but I can't help think my stuff is better than a lot of crap out there.

How to make TJ laugh at your jokes new [re: eraserhead]

In reply to:

you need to watch more Chevy Chase movies

That's a surefire way.

I know if I had to endure two hours of Cops and Robbersons I would be willing to laugh at anything by comparison.

O I am in deep and sinking,
Dreaming at the cost of sleep:
Redeeming sinners self-maligned,
Her hands in mine, our eyes unblinking

Then you're dumber new [re: eraserhead]

I wrote a whole reply to you, eraserhead, when my computer crashed. I'm not in the mood to write it all once again, so I'm going to tell you this: just because I didn't laugh my ass off while reading your tasteless, boring jokes doesn't mean I have no sense of humour.
Oh, and for the record: I wouldn't go so far to say that 95% of all threads are jokes.

When he says he's never heard of Allen Ginsberg, he means it.

TJ, do you tend to take people seriously in real life? Like, have you gotten really angry at a friend before over something that they later explained was a joke? Or is this just an internet thing? Because I think it's a curious phenomenon.

I don't know about you guys, but I think David Bowie is the cutest!!!! He's so charming and just some of the stuff he says, his smile, and the expressions he makes are just so cute!!!

this thread is going to be the longest thread ever new [re: Marquis]

I'm just replying to this thread one last time because I've changed my avatar again, for a very noble reason: It's my will that, when the people of the future read this classic thread, they will get as much entertainment and joy and fun out of it as possible. I mean, it costs money to be online, so I think when you're paying to surf the Internet, you want as much for your money as possible. So I'm doing my part here by entertaining the people with all these cool pictures. Just like Bowie never releases a new album without changing hairstyle and/or haircolour first.

Also, I have seen Cops and Robbersons. Twice. I can't say I hate it, because that would break Chevy's heart. I guess, in a PM, I could say I hate it, but not like this, not publicly.

In reply to:

I wrote a whole reply to you, eraserhead, when my computer crashed.

That means the universe did not want you to fight with me. The universe wants you to be good, okay? The universe gave you a second chance. Take it!

In reply to:

When he says he's never heard of Allen Ginsberg, he means it.

Iggy has a song called "Howl" (which is the title of Ginsberg's poem), that goes:

Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowl!!!
Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowl!!!

In reply to:

TJ, do you tend to take people seriously in real life? Like, have you gotten really angry at a friend before over something that they later explained was a joke? Or is this just an internet thing? Because I think it's a curious phenomenon.

This made me think of my favourite TJ post. I quote:

"I'm not romantic at all, not anymore. I still could have been, if one girl had not done something. But that's another story."

Again, this is my sick sense of humour speaking, but I for one found that tremendously funny, because you (or I) really could feel how anxiously TJ wanted to tell that story. He was just waiting for someone to say, "Why don't you share that story with us?" but no one said that. :)

So, I hereby invite you, TJ, to share that story here, on my thread. Let's put our differences behind us and let's focus on this tragic love story of yours. What do you say? It'd be like a guy to guy talk. Glitterbot can stay though, because she's kind of "boyish".

I hope it isn't. new [re: eraserhead]

In reply to:

TJ, do you tend to take people seriously in real life?

No, not really. In general, I'm quite a happy person, I often make jokes, but only when I'm sure they won't offend anyone. I mean, I think that joke is funny as long as it doesn't hurt anyone.

In reply to:

[Glitterbot] Like, have you gotten really angry at a friend before over something that they later explained was a joke?

Once, maybe twice. It was a joke funny only for my friend, though. It was all about a girl, but I'm not going to tell you about it - believe me, you wouldn't like to hear.

In reply to:

[Glitterbot] Or is this just an internet thing? Because I think it's a curious phenomenon.

In my opinion it's only an Internet thing. It's not the first time I'm telling you that sometimes I'm fucking not able to tell a joke from a serious statement in the Internet, becasue it's bloody difficult to guess your interculator's intentions and feelings, as you can neither see nor hear him. Besides, it's so easy to just say "Oh, come on, it was only a joke, didn't you get it?" when you are out of serious arguments and aware that it's the only exit if you don't want to sound ridiculous. Unfortunately, you do sound like that. I'm not particulary talking about you at the moment, Glitterbot.

In reply to:

[eraserhead] That means the universe did not want you to fight with me. The universe wants you to be good, okay? The universe gave you a second chance. Take it!

No. That just means my computer is fucked up, nothing more. Oh, you're joking? Sorry. Haha.

In reply to:

[eraserhead] Again, this is my sick sense of humour speaking, but I for one found that tremendously funny, because you (or I) really could feel how anxiously TJ wanted to tell that story.

Believe me, eraserhead, if I had wanted to tell it, I would have done it. I never ask anyone for permission.

In reply to:

[eraserhead] He was just waiting for someone to say, "Why don't you share that story with us?" but no one said that.

I wasn't. Why the hell did you think I was?

In reply to:

[eraserhead] So, I hereby invite you, TJ, to share that story here, on my thread. Let's put our differences behind us and let's focus on this tragic love story of yours.

I've never said anything about tragic love story. Sorry, I'm not going to share it with anyone here. I'm not fond of exposing my problems to the public, I loathe such forms of expressions as weblogs, I feel uncomfortable when I read on the Internet about other people's problems. For me it's just an emotional pornography.

In reply to:

[eraserhead] What do you say?

I say "No".

In reply to:

[eraserhead] It'd be like a guy to guy talk. Glitterbot can stay though, because she's kind of "boyish".

eraserhead, you try to make a fool of me and even if it's a joke you find fucking hilarious and personally have nothing against me, I'm not going to laugh. Because there is nothing to laugh about.

Sometimes?

You seem to have far more trouble than any other person I've ever encountered on the internet, to the point when even claiming that English is not your native language doesn't even begin to explain it... hell, your gladatorial opponent on this thread doesn't speak English as his first language.

My theory is that once the long dead hamster lodged in your rectum is removed, you'll get a sense of humour.

Until then, just try not to say anything.
