OK, we have talked about this a few times and we've never reached a proper resolution.

Basically, we could have two forums (the finalised titles are pending and can be suggested):

The News Today
The latest news, events and prophecies of Bowie's next direction.

and the other:

A Crack in the Past
Views and questions about Bowie's past songs, albums, videos, etc.

I am most interested in the views of people who have been using the site for some time now and I take that into serious consideration.

The other forum I have considered adding perhaps as well or instead of the above would simply be called:

Opinion
A place for sharing your opinion on Bowie songs and albums as well as ranking and rating songs.

But I take it that some people feel that the latter may not be a good idea.

Please discuss. A simple 'yes' or 'no' is also appreciated if you don't feel like being verbose about it.

Without being able to verbalize my opinion very well, I feel that a division into "past" and "present/future" fora looks very odd.

I would rather have a division between News on the one hand and Views and questions on the other. I am not so good at Bowie lyrics () so I have to leave the naming suggestions to others.

I am also a supporter of the old idea that the hot topics out of the (heavily moderated) News forum replace the current News section on the TW front page.

Another option might be to change the Headlines not so they reflect hot topics per se but rather the 10 most recently posted topics in that forum. That would require Evan's involvement of course (and I am not sure how much work that would necessarily involve).

I personally feel that the more specialized any specific area of the board can be the better. It might make the top layer with all the fora seem a little long (like Bnet or Bowieaudio boards) but I think the ease of navigation beyond that point will make up for the clutter on the top level. However it ends up being divided would be fine with me, but I do feel that some split is necessary.

I'll be seeing YOU in New York, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, Kansas City, St. Louis, Washington DC, Moline, Wantagh, and Holmdel. So dress sharp.

While I agree that News, View and Questions is perhaps too many options for one board, I feel that perhaps splitting the board up into too many specific titles means that there is going to be alot more hassle decided what goes where. But yes, I think that perhaps one single news board is a very good idea.

I say no, keep it all in one forum. Too many forums ruins TW.

Bear in mind that this is just a personal opinion and it was requested. I'm against the idea. I hate it when I have to answer a questionnaire and it is broken down in such detailed questions that you have to be careful not to answer too much too soon or in the wrong place. This is more or less what would happen here. I would have to post a piece of news in "The News Today" and then add: "For my opinion, please check the appropriate forum". OK, I'm exaggerating. But you get my idea. I'd rather have freedom to post a Bowie-related message that I deem interesting without caring whether it would be more appropriate for "news" or "opinion" or whatever.

I'd like that, though not the Opinions forum--that's a tad much.

Basically, I'd like anything that organizes NV&Q a bit more, since right now I sometimes find myself unable to read it, as it's often full of those poll/Alphabet survivor/List threads, which I hate.

This way (hopefully?), most of those best/worst song polls would go in the A Crack in the Past forum, leaving me at least able to enjoy the news items and speculations.

Maybe if I write this now, while drunk, you'll all understand.
