What's wrong with this site? Why does it take ages to log in or open a thread, or is it just my connection?

It does it sometimes. There are times when the site works fine, sometimes it's really really slow and sometimes it doesn't work at all (the software is starting to get dated and occasionally files tend to corrupt). Sometimes also the ads cause the site to load slowly, for some reason.

Or it is your computer.

If it's your own PC and not a publically owned one? then try staying logged in permantely, save's you continually having to log in.
