The first 2 options are yes and now are standing at 33 + 2 = 35.

The last 2 options are no and now are standing at 26 + 9 = 35.

Very interestingly, the YES number was 22 only 4 hours ago when I last checked so it's obvious that the usual TW sudden alter ego poll adjusting is kicking in

This poll is obviously rigged, arn't rigged polls normally declared void?

I think Strawman brought up the best argument on this thread so far.

Not that I have anything to add to it, mind you, but...yeah. Well done, chap.

Say wha'? new [re: Beltene]

In reply to:

You accused Monkeyboy of having this "disorder". After reading the symptoms, I came to the conclusion that everybody I've ever met exhibited some or most of these symptoms at some point during our aquantance. I've met many people in my life, I've lived in 3 different countries, 2 different continents. Americans throw the biggest fits, I'm guessing this is why Psychology is so big in America

Actually, I asked, not accused, if you want to get to the nitty gritty. I can't say why Psychology is big here. I can say I grew up with a mother who was a psychologist.

Someone I know jokingly referred to himself as having NPD, and I thought it was funny and relevant. In other words, making a mockery of the idea of being able to classify someone by a short list. Get it? BTW, the joker in question is English, not American.

And if I don't fully understand where you're coming from, please help me "get it." As for an underdeveloped sense of humor, here you clearly don't know me. It apparently doesn't translate well via print, either that or all my years of working with bands and mostly dudes has made me more base than I realize. But wait, base humor rules this place. So once again I say HUH?

It is my opinion and I am unanimous in this, because it is my opinion, which is, in fact, mine.

In reply to:

Surely their "greatness" would have them stick around in the attempt to make this place "great" once again and lesser mortals such as ddz74 would feel disorientated & finally fuck off

True to an extent, though perhaps 'blame' is a little too strong. I've commented before that I would keep up continuous posting regardless of the quality of the boards if only I had the free time. (I think the 'Is TW for People Who Don't Have Sex?' thread concluded that holding down a full time job was particularly injurious in this regard, though apparently for not all posters.*) I joined TW because I was interested in interacting on the message board, *not* to strike up personal relationships with posters Ė something I was originally quite against, for that would be really desperate and lonely Ė though inevitably I became friendly with some people and now I 'waste' time that could be spent posting ('waste' in the sense if I'd stuck to my original plan) in emailing and keeping relationships alive elsewhere.

And yes, those who remain dedicated to the site for years are far more likely to achieve a 'greatness' . . . for what its worth. Basically, to become a hero in any enclosed community like this is to simply become a mainstay. Dara and Monkeyboy strike me as likely to stick to the site to its bitter end, partly because of the length of time they've been here already, and partly because they're willing to reply to anybody's posts, whether it be yourself or Charlie Manson.** Naturally, with their regular interaction they attract people with similar ideas and humour and, quite rightly, over the course of time they become quite good at it and gain the recognition they deserve within the community they've created.

Which I hope will go some way in explaining my position on the Dogz issue. Having bozoed him for months now, I can't say I notice his presence much on the board, even though he obviously interacts with others and gets quoted on a regular basis. I think the curiosity of 'what lies behind the bozo' is the downfall of many people who use it only in retaliation; they don't give it time to work. What was quoted of his parochial views on the 'bombing' threads aren't that far removed from the opinions of several other TWers, so for me his arguments blend into one indistinguishable entity that can be classified as the Idiot TWer. The fact they came from Dogz is irrelevant to how I read the boards. Basically, he can stay for all I care, he doesn't affect me directly, hence my 'abstention' in my previous post.

But then I should've prefaced that by saying my opinion should count very little on the issue of what should be done about him because I visit TW rarely and Ė more importantly Ė interact on TW even rarer. Ergo, I would tend to trust the views of someone like Marquis because he's super smart, he's been here for an eternity and posts a fair bit - that would be one way of knowing that it's like to interact with the poster in question - but again abstention is really the only option I can personally vouch for. I'm not sure, but I don't think that 'great' posters views carry any more weight on this issue.

In reply to:

Sporadic posts of conceit & negativity from former "great" posters are about as much use as tits on a fish to this or any other message board, so for the benefit of TW, contribute positively on a regular basis and if you don't like what you see, fuck off without comment

Agreed, but I'm worried about your constant sticking the word 'great' in quotation marks. Are you inferring that, despite numerous hints in my last post that I see myself now as little more than predominantly useless, and that despite somehow (hilariously) bluffing my way through to the semis of the Mr TW competition (which can be fun to reference occasionally just to explode the myth of what passes as 'great' posting in this place) that you think that *I* consider, or used to consider, myself 'great', or even anything barely above average?

I went into overload for a year and waffled a bit. Fuck you.

* See subject line for further details.
** I'll allow future contributors to this thread to delineate the precise differences between the two posters in question.

Bitter Sweet Symphony The Verve new [re: Marquis]

No he is right to criticise one and not the other.
America being the land of the free, one of the biggest democracies in the world, the largest economy in the world and of course the country that likes to tell other nations what to do. We would expect more from the US. The world would have thought that the Americans could produce a fair balanced election.
Where as on the other side we have Iraq a new democracy we would expect problems in that part of the world whatís the USAís excuse.

Why do you continue to argue the opposite of everything DD74 says your just being a bit of a twat Mathew. Iíve been looking at this part of the site for the last few weeks and although I donít want to get into your inner politics I just wanted to say that I really respect Anthony staying out of a subject which concentrates on him that in my view is probably the right attitude to take with people like you and your west cost friend.

After looking at Anthonyís all users post (Sorry for being nosey Ant) you can easily see that this silly little thread has not affected him one bit, not that he should be he is after all one of this sites flagship members. Look inside his recent posts and you will see heís posted all a round TW and hardly ever visited a subject which is all about him however looking at your recent history the opposite can be argued for you Matthew it would seem that you have been consumed by this topic ok youíve done a bit of posting in the main coffee shop but it seems to have consumed you completely. I mean donít you live in New York is their nothing else to do in New York these days. I can see from your profile that your not that much older than me 7, 8 years in it something like that I can only hope that Iím not as bitter and sad as you when I reach that age.

In the UK we have an organisation called the C.P.S (crown prosecution) I bring this up because this is feeling more and more like a criminal trial before proceeding with a trial they follow these policies for every case

Public Interest Test
Evidential test

Do you really think that you have sufficient evidence to get rid of DD74 from this website and do you really think that it is in the interest of the users to get rid of him because all I can here is the same old argument day after dayÖ I think heís a lot more interesting than you in my view

God Iíve gone on for a bit sorry everyone.

Both sets of election fraud were, in essence, overseen by the same people. Both are reprehensible. You seem to be trying to argue that it doesn't really matter that the elections in Iraq were fraudulent. My point was that it makes no sense for someone like Dogz to complain about the 2000 US Presidential election, and then turn around and cite the election in Iraq as an example of why the invasion was a good thing.

In reply to:

Respect, eh? What is it you respect? That he occupies a position so indefensible that he can't even form a cogent argument as to why he should be allowed to break rules which everyone else is held to?

In reply to:

Chortle. Link me, please, a few examples of great posts he's made, things which enriched the experience of TW for anyone other than himself.

In reply to:

youíve done a bit of posting in the main coffee shop but it seems to have consumed you completely. I mean donít you live in New York is their nothing else to do in New York these days.

Basically, I find this discussion a lot more interesting than most of the rest of TW at the moment. Forgive me for not wanting to recommend a Bowie album to a newbie for the 19th time. Furthermore, I post exclusively from work (thus lending a crushing blow to the credibility of Dogz' "What kind of employee are you?" thread - surely another example of wonderful posting from his "cut and paste" file), so don't worry yourself too much about my leisure time.

In reply to:

I can see from your profile that your not that much older than me 7, 8 years in it something like that I can only hope that Iím not as bitter and sad as you when I reach that age.

And I can only hope that you learn how to read and write. And to not presume to know the first thing about "the real me" from a handful of posts on the internet.

In reply to:

Do you really think that you have sufficient evidence to get rid of DD74 from this website and do you really think that it is in the interest of the users to get rid of him

Well, let's look at this:

Sufficient Evidence - Well, first and foremost, we have the individual's case history as one of the few posters ever banned from TW. What is it that got him banned the first time? Why, the very things I'm complaining about now! The same things which were to have gotten him re-banned if he were to repeat them. How far Dogz has backslid is the only question, really, and one which I'm more than happy to let the mods decide, and I'll admit it isn't an easy one. Even in the anonymity of Monkeyboy's poll, I voted for a probation rather than outright banning, because deep down I really just want Dogz to get his act together and show some common fucking courtesy.

General Interest - Well, that's wholly dependent on which posters you're talking about. For lunkheads like you, it would be decidedly bad if Dogz were booted, because his contrast makes you look like a fucking rocket scientist. There'd be one less person to hold your hand and say "Don't worry, JAMIEBOT, you can flood the boards as much as you might ever wish and no one will care"

For those good posters like Pablo and Tin who've come to his defense time and again, things are a little trickier. On the one hand, Pablo wouldn't have to spend half his time doing what, by all rights, Dogz should be able to do himself (i.e. defending his positions, watching over the quality of his posts). On the other, there is the fact that somehow they find it cute when someone starts a thread about a movie and Anthony posts three times to say "I haven't seen it? Is? It any good" followed by an oh-so-fascinating link to Amazon.com. Truthfully, though I find this incomprehensible, it's enough to get him off the hook for banning, or would be if he'd make any efforts at restraint.

For the rest of us, the prospect of reading a thread which doesn't immediately descend into a bout of pictures and drool would be bliss. Just ask any of the TWers who've left due to his reign of terror.

In reply to:

I think heís a lot more interesting than you in my view

My so called reign of terror, If you truly believe your own words? then I feel I must agree with Jamie and say that you are coming across as a bit of a twat, which is rather sad to say the least.

I always, always read your posts with great interest, I don't always agree with them but I respect your views as an individual, as I would hope you now respected mine.

It's obvious my intellect is not upto your *extremely* high standards you appear to set yourself.
