Why are you still here

An argument between Marquis and Pablo several weeks ago raised an interesting question over why people visit TW. (I would quote the relevant part but it was on the Dogz thread that they each replied a zillion times and I can't be fucked wading through it again.) If I remember correctly, the topic arose in reference as to why some people hold the opinion this is a declining, moribund board, and the issue over fewer new members signing up, etc.
I figured there's some amusement to be had in gauging why we visit TW, some kind of census if you will, if only as a totally futile customer service exercise that's primarily for my *own* amusement, to see what portion of the TW population expects what in the form of entertainment in return.
Here are some possibilities, but I encourage other imaginative reasons to be added on the thread itself.

For the latest, exciting, up-to-the-minute Bowie news.
Just has to be that one.
I visit here simply because as i've stated many times over that I love the place, the interaction, the silly fights and the utterly brilliant wit of many great members.
Got lots of very good friends here and a few enimies I dare say, but I can honestly say hand on heart I dislike nobody on here, there was one member I disliked for a nasty post he made once, I forgave him in the end even though he does not post anymore
There is no other Bowie forum that can even remotely touch TW for it's interactions/debates on every/any subject brought up.

Habit mainly, did try to leave in July and lasted about three days. That was only three days of not posting, I still popped on to read the posts. Bit of a cliché maybe, but I don't get out much due to my personal predicament, so interacting on the internet keeps me in touch and gives me an outlet to air my views.
Mmmm, bit too revealing maybe...

Partially D, though a good chunk of the people I've really come to like here are in varying stages of exile. This doesn't necessarily mean that I dislike the current posters, just that I'm going through ohro/ped_xing/Glitterbot withdrawal. Since enough of these people will eventually drift back around, and since you'd have to pry Monkeyboy off of TW's corpse with a well-placed Asian chick, the good peeps still count.
E & G are related, I think, and are also sizeable influences. I would never want to give the impression that I regard my posts as "serious writing," more of some light daily calisthenics to preserve the possibility of one day getting back to the marathon circuit.
Other factors to consider:
-It's 2:30 in the afternoon, I've pretty much done all the work I intend on doing, and the internet, IMHO, is on the whole a thoroughly uninteresting entertainment. Spatting with Beltene is more fun and engaging than the Yahoo! crossword - at least until tomorrow's Sunday Challenge!
-I'm inching ever closer to the 5,000 post benchmark, and though a custom title doesn't really mean much, it's one of those things where since the option exists, I feel obliged to stick around long enough to exercise it. Probably comes from the same part of my personality which causes me to continue to buy old Blur, Low, and Lambchop albums from the used bin when really I'll only ever need a couple of each.
Literature is [the art] best suited to challenging absolutes of all kinds. Because it is in its origin the schismatic Other of the sacred (and authorless) text, so it is also the art most likely to fill our god-shaped holes

People, it's always about the people. Even though this damn place really is the only decent place to discuss Bowie online, I would have loitered around for a year tops if I hadn't been unfortunate enough to meet some truly tremendous people in here. Thanks a lot fuckers (you know who you are). If it weren't for you, I might be doing something reasonably productive at this very moment!
Oh and wanking to Beltene's pictures isn't bad either...

What Wabbit said. That, and I usually have nothing better to do than be delighted/offended/confounded/molested by the screwy sentiments of total strangers.
Also, this site can be very informative for the oblivious American.
Oh... and I'm not averse to the occasional plink over one of Beltene's photos.
