Epilogue

As we come to the end of another day in TW land, let's take a moment and look at what utter crap has gone on here today. No wonder people don't visit anymore.

Shall I just turn off the lights now?

Dignity is valuable, but our lives are valuable too.

This was Dogz' best day in months new [re: Pablo-Picasso]

Utter crap? Hardly. I think some people may have been a little over-enthusiastic, but who are we to complain? TW must cater to everyone, no matter their personal style. The Claude/Dogz/Lorenzo/Fabio thread brought some much-needed humor to the site, and I'm sure it made for fascinating reading for at least 2 people. We should applaud these gentlemen for keeping TW alive.

Literature is [the art] best suited to challenging absolutes of all kinds. Because it is in its origin the schismatic Other of the sacred (and authorless) text, so it is also the art most likely to fill our god-shaped holes

Make that three. At first all the faggotry made me gag but once pastor Phelps started to smite sodomites left and right, it turned into something enlightening.

Pablo, are you going to "leave" this board again? Read you on Tuesday then...

The real reason people don't come here any more much is Bowie's career is as dead as DiamondDogs sex life right now. Same reason the Nine Inch Nails boards ain't the kicking hotspots they were a few years ago.

It's like I'm setting myself up, or something new [re: Shelle]

That may be the reason there isn't an avalanche of new members, but it probably isn't the reason the old contributers don't bother to post anymore. I'm a big Bowie fan, but I don't come here to check the news, I come here because it's entertaining. It used to be even more entertaining when there were more contributers, but a lot of them, it seems to me, have quit on account of the constant drivel posted by a select few idiots.

Er, considering Shelle is almost certainly an altar- and I feel stupid for thinking there's a possibility sie isn't- I feel I need to add that this goes for all the people who say the reason the board's dead is because the TW news hasn't been updated in fifty years.

That might just be down to you "old contributers" running out of interesting things to say. Even the liveliest party gets dull after a while if nobody new arrives. And the way the culture here seems to have developed, even if or when new contributers do come along, they'd probably find it too much of a hassle to break into the cliques and get bored when all anyone can think to say to them is "Hmmm, which regular's alter ego are you?".

If you want to point fingers, it's better to point them at those that don't post than those that do.

I'm not an old contributer. I'm pretty new, and I've adapted. Sorta.

I see that point, I guess. I'm going by the many posts blaming idiot posters for old contributers not bothering to come here anymore. So, maybe I'm outta my depth, 'cause I know none of them. Anyway, going by my little evidence, I think that they've got a point in not posting: if your posts are going to be replied to by a bunch of idiots (or, one) with nothing even half-interesting to say, what's the point in posting? It takes the entertaining discussion out of the board. Or something.

Re: It's like I'm setting myself up, or something new [re: Humbert]

I think after a time, people are going to tire of a message board, they will blame certain things but at the end of the day something else will come along and take your time/interest. I would say if you looked at this board whenever, there would be idiotic, annoying people. We always see the past as being better, because we have filtered out the rubbish and if one is bored now, one will blame the content of the board etc. I have been guilty of this. I think if a poster is bored, they are going to pick up on the annoyances and maybe take them out of proportion a little, rather than concentrating on the good.
I still stand by something I have written a few times. Someone going to the TW homepage is going to see a news board that is two years old and possible a hot topic message board with titles like;

Polyrock
Have you seen my pussy
top ten garage band tracks never recorded
This latest disaster is terrible
How can ..... be making a single for the latest disaster >:-(
What songs should i compile to get my RE teacher to like Bowie
Art or Pornography

And I think a lot of people then move on to some other site, thinking nothing happens here. Over time people are going to move on but there is not enough new blood to replace them. I have no answers but I will continue to have a laugh where a laugh is needed and try and contribute to serious discussions as I can. Also encouraging newcomers and getting them over the awkward new stage that many seem to falter on. It is all we can do.

Dignity is valuable, but our lives are valuable too.

I've decided to abandon all pretense of being courteous to posters I don't like. In fact, I think from this point on, I'll just be a colossal prick.

I love you.

You're probably wondering why I'm here...and so am I.

Maybe the only answer is for us all to register as many alter ego's as possible and at least give the pretense that there are loads of new people here...
