This is serious new [re: carsten]

Carsten, do you praise EJ just because he comes from the same country as you? And do you label my serious post "just another joke" because I'm not German? I mean, you come here, to this thread, which contains many sound, interesting, thought-provoking ideas, expressed not only by myself, but by others as well, and yet the only "opinon" expressed in this thread that you choose to bring up to defend is the "opinion" of your fellow country man, Erich-Johann. And, as Prism said, he didn't even offer any real opinion.

Now, I love EJ as much as I love anyone on this board, but I'm just saying that your behaviour, Carsten, confuses me. Because this is not just another joke. This was a serious proposal. It (this election thing I'm suggesting) would also be one of the funniest and most important events in the history of TW. It could produce probably the most entertaining series of threads since Twister made those knockout threads, which in the end declared power2charm "Mr TW". In other words, this election, and the many campaigns leading up to the election(s) would bring life back to TW. It would be both fun and important. A combination of business and pleasure.

Plus, I for one think it will be very interesting to see how the current mods (again, I love them all) will act when they loose their special colours (green, pink, or whatever their special colour was). What that will do to them; how they will react to suddenly becoming just another nobody again; how the other posters will treat them, now that they're mortal and not protected by their special colours and special privileges and immunity anymore. How will they lead their post-moderator lives? Will their participation on the boards increase or decrease? Will they commit suicide? Will they post porn? I'm serious.

In reply to:

[White Prism] So, in theory, TW could elect a belligerent, trigger-happy despot who bans all Italians at the drop of a jockstrap? And we'd be stuck with them for a whole year? I'd vote for them

Yes, Prism, this is what I'm talking about. Freedom. Real freedom. This will be the land of the free, home of the...slaves? It all depends on how we vote. If we wanna elect Hitler, we can do it. We shouldn't be afraid of democracy, like Carsten the Nazi is. Democracy is the only way to go. The sooner you all see this, the better.

edit: schizophrenic, I like your spirit.
second edit: It just hit me that SoulLoveChild would be an ideal moderator. Her and Starlite would be two of the best moderators we could ever have. It only remains to be seen if democracy will come to TW, if we allow it to come in, now that it is here, knocking on our door. Then, hopefully, SLC and Starlite will decide to run for office.

GFried: What aspect of your personallity do you think makes you post at a David Bowie message board?
Dara: For me it's pretty much an interest in David Bowie.

I wanna be elected. new [re: White Prism]

Alright, time to throw my hat in the ring. I, schizophrenic, would like to be your new moderator. I'm dead serious.

Here's where I stand:

* Any thread that consists soley of chatter will be locked. No exceptions.
* Posters will only be banned if a majority agrees that they are contributing to the detriment of the site.
* I will hold monthly polls on how to improve the quality of the site, and if one idea gains enough popularity, we will put it to a vote (even if it's something I don't like).
* No porn. Sorry, guys.

Ways you know you can trust me:

* I still frequent the boards way more often than I should, and I feel equipped to handle the concerns of of TW citizens. You know I care about posting quality because I'm always complaining and threatening to leave (OK, maybe not so much that last part anymore).
* I don't have much of a dictatorial streak, though sometimes I get "wacky" (if you catch my drift).
* No, I won't explain what that means.

Other than that, though, I'll be exactly like the mods we have now.

...TO THE EXTREME!!!

Imagine the above be-(*BOOM*)

Her and Starlite

I like Starlite. I do. But she's a little bit too reactionary to be a mod.

Not that I think I'd ever be elected, but I don't want anyone thinking that I would be a good choice, either. I'll run, I guess. But I'll also make it perfectly clear that I will be one biased motherfucker. I will ban and delete without hesitation, just because I could.

I wanna be eaten alive! new [re: schizophrenic]

I, Hannibal, would like to be your new moderator. I'm, heh, dead serious.

True, true, my ideas may be a little unorthodox, but during my posting spree last year I garnered a small core cannibal fan base who stated how much they enjoyed my presence, and how much they'd like some small scale promotion of cannibalism to be integrated into the site itself.

In that spirit, I'd like the members of Teenage Wildlife to read my proposals with an open mind, viewing me as a kind of "alternative" candidate.

Here's where I stand:

* Instant locking of vegetarian/meat eater flame wars.
* No pornographic images, but images of hardcore group cannibal activity are permitted.
* A special cannibal forum will be opened as a shrine for the Bowie fan who likes to snack on another Bowie fan.
* I will track down and eat Claude in person, then post pictures.

Ways you know you can trust me:

* Yeah, well, this is where it gets a bit tricky, isn't it? Let's just say that while I may be tempted to savage pig-ignorant people I meet in the flesh, the internet is a perfectly safe place to interact.
* Hey, I've got more bikini shots of Mousey if you want 'em!

Honestly pianocraft, sometimes I think you've never met a real junkie;the things you say about Bowie in his cocaine era, are hilarious

eraserhead, I thank you for your support, your good taste and common sense on the board . I am humbly ecstatic by your proposal. But before you get too excited, I must let you know that I cannot put myself up for election in the near future, should the momentous occasion arise. Perhaps next year.

I won't be online a lot for the rest of the year, particularly Oct/Nov/Dec. I'm actually going through some major changes in life - SLH and I have resigned from our lodge in the snow and we are planning a move interstate. We haven't even found jobs yet, let alone somewhere to live, so have an awful lot on our plate before things settle down and I can get back into the daily routine here at my beloved TW.

However I will be around the next month or so, keeping an eye on proceedings. Keeping an eye on Adam. Keeping an eye on the activities of the other mods (I loved Tati but she was the wrong choice of mod from the start, haven't seen her virtually since her nomination as mod).

I would be nominating Zigbot up for moderator if she's keen. This may have something to do with the fact that she and I are doppelgangers living the same lives with the same ideals, ideas and passions on opposite sides of the planet. You can bet your last $ that 99.9% of everything she writes could have been written by me. (Except I don't dislike Try Some Buy Some THAT much )

So you're madly in love with me too?
