Re: The Revolutionary Post new [re: eraserhead]

All righty, I am in agreement that our current mods either need to step up or new mods should be put in place.

I currently visit another mb with just one mod and she not only previews all posts before they appear, but she also sniffs out trolls/alters and prevents them from clogging up the works. It's a tad inconvenient since posts don't appear immediately. But it's not really a problem because you know what you're reading is a real post, not full of pictures or dribble, authored by a real person not and alter-ego.

I'd like to see our mods take a more proactive role like this. I kind of thought that's what they were here for anyway. If we had a bit more *gasp* policing of the boards we would likely lure old and new posters of substance back. Not to mention making this place a bit more enjoyable again.

Thank you and good night.

It is my opinion and I am unanimous in this, because it is my opinion, which is, in fact, mine.

That rules out 98% of posts made here.

How do you get rid of alters? Should members come with a certificate of authenticity?

There must be a way of knowing, for instance only allowing one IP address from each member might cut down some of the alters?

Not a good idea : not everyone has a fixed IP address. Mine changes every time I connect (I use Wanadoo).

Well it was a lousy idea although when I was banned my IP address was blocked, perhaps being on broadband alters this everytime as you mentioned with Wanndo?

I'm sure some of the more IT friendly members could figure out someway.

You people are crazy. Getting rid off alters would most likely kill the last drips of humour left in TW. Let's just throw the Italian sodomite out and everyone will be happy.

I bozoed FredPhelps and the Italian fairies yesterday and now I'm looking at a dead message board.

Ant, your IP couldn't have been banned otherwise you would not have been able to sign in to receive PMs. All that was done was your ID was not allowed to post. Regardnig alters, I have to agree with Rabbifighter, some of the more well formed alters are almost like real people and without them this could be a dull place. When someone creates an alter with its' own unique personality, it can be a work of art. Just imagine how this place has been brightened by the likes of Elsie the Cow, the Pope etc.

A while ago Monkeyboy wanted hard fast guidelines on what is and isn't acceptable here, and he was never given it. I don't for one minute feel we need the kind of moderator presence at for instance PinkFloyd.net but our moderators do need to be more vocal. For different reasons lately most of our moderators seem to have been absent. I have seen Tati post once since I have been here, Ohro is hardly ever around and Sysiyo seems to spend less time here, I see EJ quite a bit, but his mod presence is negligable. If a moderator feels they can no longer carry the duties out due to other things in their life, would it not be the right thing to do to step aside and let someone else take the strain, or at least recruit more moderators if the current ones would like to keep their status?

I have always found our moderators to be approachable and usually fair but if they aren't here to moderate and stop some of the mindless inanity then we need people who are.

I really think that chatting, when not on topic, should be controlled, either through public warnings, or by locking or deleting threads which have turned into something which would be better suited to PMs.

FastChanges a message board is what we make it. Let's make it good?
