With Monkeyboy's departure from the hallowed boards of TW and his reasons for this, ie/ that he no longer feels the need to boardbash morons to fulfil the aching void in his heart, I got to wondering... what exactly does TW mean to people? Why do people continue to come here and make posts? What is it they are looking for... friendship, witty banter, to vent spleen or even horror of horrors to just talk about Bowie?

What I mean to say is that I've been on many message boards over the years... and yet this is the only one which I regularly even addictively contribute to, even though the actual TW website has died a slow and painful death.

So why? What does TW mean to you? Why do you still come here... what the hell is wrong with you people?

The people, friends, the laughs and the interest in Bowie. Also for the following of related popular musics and aftershocks.

The people here are just wacky. Wacky and dedicated to keeping this place alive. There are no normal threads here. Nobody talks things through in a reasonable way. Threads about the most humdrum or predictable topics turn out strange. There are characters. There are intrigues.

I've always put it down to us being interested in Bowie. Something inside of us all related to his creating a persona to hide his real self. Related to seeing everything upside down and inside out. That's why the people here are madmen, and I'm content your all the same as me.

I once said to someone recently, "I've never seen a messageboard survive for even weeks after the parent site died. If boards were plants then TW is the cactus. It just survives."

That person then told me that TW is indeed like a cactus. It's full of pricks.

He was still posting as of yesterday.

I come here because it's so radically different from other Bowie forums, one's never sure who might turn on you, there is no sickening jolly sycophancy, one is allowed to speak one's mind, plus it's the best darn site I've ever had the privilege to be a member of. We have a weird but comfortable continuity, unique I would call it.

We are friends in our rights, but not to the point of saying so.

And we do have the odd Bowie exclusive, now and then.

I've been reading Monkeyboy's posts everywhere. He hasn't left.

TW has not died and is as vibrant as it always has been. We see things thru templates we create in order to make sense of the world.

If Monkeyboy feels a need to "bash morons" he will find another venue in which to do it as he kisses TW goodbye.

TW means Teenage Wildlife to me. It is where teenages can be wild if they want to be.

I don't post much ( because I have absolutely nothing worthwile to say to – and the reason I post now is that I'm drunk ).

But what keeps me coming back to this forum is its strange dysfunctionality as a community. This place is so full of hostility that it's quite funny.

Let's keep it up. I'd hate if his place turned out to like another BWW . They have no edge.

Well, I came here at first because it seemed interesting. I was also in hospital waiting room for my grandma at the time.

It still interests me, because like what was said before, there are topic here unlike no other site. THreads started here would get me banned at other websites.

Hmm, that parhaps explains why I've kept haunting this place for so long...

Well, that and the fact that (like Vanessa said), TW tolerates a large number of subjects that would be banned on other sites. I always feel uneasy on other forums with their rigid rules and the danger that my posts will get deleted for some unfathomable reason. So keep it anarchic, good folks of TW, that is what makes these boards so special.
