Moderators - Make This Place Ok

I know there's been a million Dogz threads that have ended with nothing gained.

This place is miserable because of his selfishness - he wants to post in every thread - and ruin most of them.

In all fairness, if he's to stay here at the very least those of us starting a thread should as is our right be able to add a note to our signature which means we do not want him to post to it.

He gets to stay here, and post to threads his buddies start. We get to have at least a few of our own threads which are not completely wrecked by his selfish desire to join in every single move we make and annoy us all to hell.

If not good people, then it's goodbye from me also. I can live with him, but I cannot live with him thrust in my face from 3 to 10 times in every single thread.

A fair solution to our frustrations must be implemented, or else I call for the abstinance of every TWer I can convince by any means possible. This is not a petty grudge, this is a sore and sorry note that has existed for a long time.

Our right to decide if he posts to our threads - or a campaign to slow this board to a sorry standstill.

Enough is enough for this greedy selfish man. He was banned for much much less than what he is doing today, about a fifth or sixth of what he is doing today. Why is he allowed to do what he was banned for in the past?

(Or else a comprimise of each TWer being able to add a specified note or signal in our signature which means we do not want him to reply to our posts. That we would find it offensive due to what he has said and done in the past. Failure to be able to do that seems to me to be very derelict in what is expected of a moderator. It would give me the impetus, not only to leave TW as stated above, but also to convince every poster I possibly could to abstain from participating in TW until it is implemented.)

Re: Moderators - Make This Place Ok new [re: Persilot]

I've bozoed him, but that does no good when he ruins threads. There's no ignoring him because much of the time other people are arguing with him.

If I'm trying my best to ignore him, AND I've bozoed him so I can't see his posts, BUT he's still making the place lousy for me, then there's no use coming here anymore.

I used to like the place, but there are plenty of other boards which are better simply because there is not somebody as greedy and selfish as Dogz. ANY other moderator at any other board would have sent him packing after three or four days. They are the boards I'd rather be at.

So, I guess this place is not for me.

I'm just grabbing at one last chance. Because if a compromise can be reached, and he can be calmed down a little bit and post in moderation with his friends, then this is my favourite messageboard by far. If not then I'll be forced to very sadly say goodbye and definately not come back. It's just untenable.

Plus. This does not mean I won't declare war to attempt to force a resolution so I can post at my former-favourite boards. Total war.

You're right, and I've just bozoed him again for the gazillionth time. And not just because he insulted my good looks, but because of his bad ones. I don't ever want to see that man's bare white blubber chest again.

But this won't solve the problem. Individual posters bozoing him one by one won't rid this board of the hideous festering syphilitic sore that is dogz.

No more band-aids for dogz's posts!

Does this place have a year, or months to live? new [re: anisette]

His contempt for everyone bar himself is far uglier than his looks.

Why does he have to post, even when it's clear it's a case where the people in the thread don't want him to, and it's nothing to do with him?

Either this is a big con. A joke put apon us by the moderators as a kind of sick game. Or else we're being fucked up the ass by some guy who can't believe he's getting away with unprecidented behaviour on a messageboard.

I'm not asking for his destruction. I'm asking for a peaceful resolution where Dogz haters/supporters can FINALLY live in peace with each other.

How many god damned motherfucking cocksucking Dogz threads is it going to take before someone gets off their ass and actually does something?

I'd be so happy to actually talk to a moderator. Are there any moderators here at all?

Well, if that's the case then this place is officially dead. Just a bunch of ghosts typing lost messages until all that is left is Dogz and one or two of his friends. Then I guess it will crash and there will be nobody left to fix it.

Either there are no moderators, or there are just people who like having the title, but do no actual moderating! If that's the case, then for God's sake, pass on your job to someone who wants to do it.

Like I say Sys, either you're a moderator or not. There is an actual job to do, it's not just a title. Moderators of other boards work hard at keeping a place running so it's pleasant to be around.

I like all the moderators here personally, but in their capacity to actually moderate I'd like to see what they've actually done in that regard over the last few years.

If the whole purpose of why Dogz isn't moderated is kept a secret from the rest of us, then I'd really really really love it if someone, any of the moderators told me. Is it a big Andy Kaufman-like joke? Is there any discussion? I mean FUCK MAN, this has been the source of ENDLESS FUCKING 100 POST THREADS for TWO FUCKING YEARS! It's not a petty thing! I'd like to know some reason why it hasn't been at least brought to a compromise situation!!

Yeah yeah, people say "I'm glad PHOENIX is back." They'd be glad if a lot of the people who made this place pleasant were back, but I've been back two weeks and no matter how hard I try, bozo or not, it's fucking intolerable with that selfish man using the whole place as his email account.

Are you moderators just for the fancy glowing names above your posts? Or do you moderate these boards which seemed to be filled with fights more than fun or discussion?

Yeah, I still think eraserhead's idea about having elected moderators was pretty cool in a twisted and deeply undemocratic way. If there's a surefire way to awake TW from its dead-in-the-water state, yearly elections would generate ceaseless arguments and internal wrangling. And we get to vote for all kinds of wacky shit. Way too much potential for shits 'n' giggles there.

And I think I've made my position on Dogz abundantly clear in the past, so no need to elaborate here.

Did you have that problem at school? Only one person who would be friends with you? And only because he felt sorry for you? If so, welcome to memory lane Some nice people who'll be your friend, but not because they like you.

You should thank your lucky stars you found this place! Try this shit on another board and they'd gut you. By this shit I mean selfish floods of posts, figuring that being center of attention meant you were popular.

Pedantically yours, ohro new [re: PHOENIX]

Okay ...

Here's the information I've come up with. I grabbed a somewhat random sampling of 6 typical TW regular users. I simply obtained an average number of posts per day per user. I then determined the average number of posts made by ddz per day.

Now, using the Student's t-test to measure the equality of the means of two normal distributions (yes, many arguments can be made here about the normalcy of any of this--smartass), where the average # of posts derived from the random(ish) sampling of TWers is 3.9 posts/day (and I'm just gonna have to say is called x-bar-1 cause I don't seem to have any keystroke for it); and the average # of dogz's posts/day is 13.14, to henceforth be known as x-bar-2, and plugging the numbers into the student's t-test formula:

and yielding the following results:

t= -4.38
sdev= 5.17
degrees of freedom = 47

The probability of this result, assuming the null hypothesis, is 0.000

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group A: Number of items= 42
0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 0.000E+00 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.00 2.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 3.00 5.00 5.00 5.00 6.00 7.00 7.00 8.00 9.00 9.00 9.00 11.0 11.0 12.0 17.0 17.0

Mean = 3.90
95% confidence interval for Mean: 2.300 thru 5.510
Standard Deviation = 4.69
Hi = 17.0 Low = 0.000E+00
Median = 2.50
Average Absolute Deviation from Median = 3.52

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group B: Number of items= 7
4.00 6.00 8.00 11.0 20.0 21.0 22.0

Mean = 13.1
95% confidence interval for Mean: 9.211 thru 17.07
Standard Deviation = 7.67
Hi = 22.0 Low = 4.00
Median = 11.0
Average Absolute Deviation from Median = 6.43

In other words, it is impossible to have a difference this large (in the average number of posts) without some kinda wank going on!

For the less scientific part, if the average # of typical TWer posts/day is 3.9 (which it is, based on a randomish sampling), I would round up to 4, add 1 for generosity, and propose that ddz be limited to 5 posts/day.

What do you think?

Dear diamondogz,

I know, and would understand if you could not forgive me for what I said that time. Maybe you won't even believe me when I say that I have deep regrets about it. That's part of the reason I'm leaving.

I am sorry man. It makes me sick to think about what I said, even though I was trying to act like an idiot. The whole PHOENIX period is something I regret now. I myself have recently lost someone to cancer, and even though talking in the way may be unforgiveable I hope you'll believe my sincere apologies, not just for that, but for acting like a jerk the entire time.

I'm not expecting you to like me, or to forgive me, but could you reconsider posting that reminder even though I deserve it? When I realised the magnitude of what I'd done that time I deleted it out of a sense of shame, and it's with further shame that I admit I should have apologised properly and right away.

I actually do admire that you have been yourself during your time here. At one time I was annoyed by some things you did, but they are a far way away from the shit I did.

Again, I'm sorry.

I've often wondered that myself.

About a year ago I was looking for the whereabouts of a friend I'd lost contact with 16 years previously who'd become a psychiatric nurse in the Norfolk area - I decided to PM dogz, his being in Norfolk & the nursing profession himself, but he told me he'd never heard of my friend - dogz also failed to tell me that he was a psychiatric nurse himself - so how long have you been psychiatric nurse, dogz?

I've since contacted my friend and he's had a hell of a shit time - lost both his parents to illnessess within a couple of months of each other about six years ago, had a heart attack at the age of 39 five years back & was run over by a car in Norwich where he left a portion of his brain in the Tombland area of the city three years ago It's amazing he still has all his marbles, 'though conversation with him can be a little tough going 'cause he tends to wander, especially when he's had alcohol.

Point is, before the last incident occured he was in charge of the whole South Norfolk area for psychiatric treatment.

And dogz is telling me he'd never heard of the bloke?

And in all honesty I hadn't heard of your friend, yes I was in psychiatric nursing for some considerable time, I left that branch of nursing and went into the new univesity hospital, where I trained up as a charge nurse.

I have no recollection of your PM?

But I do have this one

From: Strawman

You shouldn't take any notice of what I say, anyhow. I barely post here these days A) Due to boredom & not being able to come up with decent subject matter. B) Because out of that boredom, I've been mostly busy making myself more despised by the TW populace than ever, and I'm finding it increasingly difficult to break the habit.

I know I shouldn't really post at all, but after two years & an addictive nature I'm having to wean myself off gradually.

So ignore my contribution, AntZ, and have a good time.

Sincerely,

Mark

While I post more than you, It is not intentional, members know I have OCD and cannot help my posts

Perhaps Auntie Prism's dossier sez different, but although I've heard all about the OCD, I think this may be the first time it was offered up as being the root cause of the postal diarrhea. Or perhaps the causal link was previously buried under the mountain of Cro-magnon grammar.

So the question becomes, how does TW feel about having itself used as an outlet for one person's personality disorder? If, as he says, Dogz simply can't help himself from posting 20 times a day, does etiquette require us to turn the other cheek? Will his banning cut off this wretched man's only source of sanity, or would it mercifully free him of the compelling need to blather on the internet?

I profess no knowledge of the answers.

I do know this, though: posting PMs is still bad form, Dogz.

More to the point, how the fuck is the post I made relevant to anything I said in that PM? Same with PHOENIX'S PM apologising for making remarks about his sisters cancer, where's the fucking relevance there to PHOENIX'S allegations within this thread?

And blaming OCD for spamming a message board is fucking outrageous, but then this from the same person who claims bulimia is responsible for his having tits, so no suprise there.

You are culpable for your own actions, dogz, so for fucks sake cease with the pathetic excuses.

A personality the size of Monkeyboy's cock new [re: Marquis]

Auntie Prism's dossier sez, actually, this is *not* the first time OCD has been linked directly to Dogz's posting habits. This is interesting because

1) I have had Dogz bozoed solidly since his reintroduction from his banning (a brief grace period allowing, from which one of my amicable PMs will no doubt surface anon), so I assume it was discussed/quoted among others. Nonetheless, hardly a memorable moment, like the 13,000 others.

2) I was not aware that TW had to incorporate a poster's disabilities/disorders/anxieties in its treatment towards said poster. In obvious cases like Claude where the level of communication is, er, basic most posters are fairly lenient and graciously ignore him or poke innocent fun at his expense. (But even with his slipshod understanding of English, the message of 'No Porn! ' ought've gotten through by now.) So provided there isn't an obvious physical reason why a person's interaction with the fora is markedly different (e.g. Bamboo7; missing opposable thumbs), all posters should expect to be treated the same regardless of their personalities.

Some more general points: I vaguely recollect from the medical training I received during my rudimentary First Aid course when I was nine years old that a banning or posting restriction to fora would be beneficial to OCD sufferers insofar as it would encourage the patient to seek hobbies/interests elsewhere from hir immediate surroundings, so yeah, Dogz needs to get away from his computer. Really, Dogz, we are doing this for your benefit much more than ours; if I were mod you would be free to post unlimited amounts of unpunctuated shite, but this is not ultimately conducive towards improving your condition.

On Strawman's accusation of phoniness: Indeed, no one here has ever met Dogz in person, have they? I maintain suspicions that the be-titted turd is some no-one from a Scott Walker board he's found.

On a posting restriction: A neat idea, but it was precisely because the dopey cunt couldn't count that he was ultimately banned last time. (Didn't he post nine times, two posts over the seven-a-day limit?) Admittedly, five is a lower number than seven, so it's not a total lost cause, but I'm not terribly optimistic on this point.

In my defense, I never bothered cracking the thing; it was simply a handy hard surface upon which to ply my crossword puzzle trade.

But yes, I was aware at the time of the poor choice of terminology, but couldn't be arsed, as Auntie P might say, to rectify the error, as I was preoccupied with the fact that none of my C.O.D. accounts has received their August 8th new releases.

Finally, for the record, I feel obliged to say that after my posting hiatus, my general levels of frustration with Dogz are at an all-time low, so forgive me if I'm less active in this go-round than I may've been in the past. Still, I've felt that pain before, and furthermore have full trust in the wisdom of the Almighty Ohro, so I'm not gonna argue against this posting restriction either.

In other words: why am I posting at all in this thread?

Do you often wander around shopping centres in the afternoon saying 'I wonder what my wife is cooking for dinner? It's chicken, I'm sure of it!'. To which statements people back off and look bewildered.

Regardless, dogz is restricted to 5 posts a day and this is the only Bowie site he likes. Hopefully he will exceed that limit soon and be banned for good.
