This is something that everyone should read - especially posters who aren't usually good at being clever or insulting. We all know that the only thing that stinks up an entire forum more than a poorly-disciplined Dogz is a failed insult thread such as the one Mr. Stevee ("and a dated siggie for me") dreamed up. He's not the only one, of course. He's just the most recent in a long line of posters who got the wrong urge at the wrong time and waited too long before it was too late to delete the evidence and save face.

It happens a couple of times a year. Stevee is normally a decent poster (when he posts) and I can't blame him personally for falling prey to poor judgement. I know that the last time I gave him any amount of shit his ovaries started hurting so I want to make it clear that this isn't a direct attack on him. But his shitty post offers us an opportunity to teach would-be Insult Comic Dogs a few things about what to and not to do.

Here's the beginning of a checklist, feel free to add on to it:

- Wait! Is the insult actually fitting? Am I reaching too far?
- Reality check! What is the pulse of the board? Is my target likely to be defended or attacked by the rest of the community?
- Deflection correction! Can this post I'm about to make be easily used against me?
- Show me the Funny! Is this little joke of mine actually funny? Try asking a "funny pal" via PM. Remember: nobody wants to see you fail ! [kitten]

maybe TW should have an official funny moderator. you would send your joke to them via PM and they would answer with a short "yes," "no," or "tweak it."
