Come on, you know TW would become a tubgirl pictures repository.

Well, you're the one posting gross pictures all the time.

Maybe we should redo TW in a Wikipedia-like interphase where any user could edit the information on the main site. That way we'd have the entire Bowie community as people helping upkeep the site and hence have the most up-to-date and complete information.

I've heard that installing a "Wiki" is quite easy (if you know HTML, that is). A guy I know made a completely unnecessary Wiki database for his website. We had loads of fun filling it with random crap, until his server people complained about the amount of space the ever-expanding turd was taking.

I could ask him about it, if there's any real interest.

If you ask me... new [re: K]

...which no one did, but...

My take is this: One of the reasons the site has been successful is that we haven't had to resort to horrible free shit like EZ Board. And we haven't had to 'cause Evan pays the bill, and he continues to pay the bill even though he's not active. So I say the less we remind him that he's not really involved any more, the better.

But I think that if we move we will lose more people in the process than we actually gain. Call me a pessimist, but I see the chances of Daddy going through another Earthling period, popularity-wise, declining exponentially as he gets older.

Bingo. The site had its heyday when Daddy was attracting new (young) fans via his Earthling work and tours. They came here looking for more info, made things exciting for us old fucks, and left when Bowie no longer kept their fleeting attention spans.

The problem isn't that the news isn't updated or that new members can't register, it's that there isn't enough news to attract interesting new members to get actively involved to create the mass interaction we had back then.

But TW's heyday was glorious, and as such, many of us that were involved in the heyday will come back every now and then. Not enough to take it back, but more than we'd go to a new site, I bet.

Oh yeah, one more thing:

In reply to:

Maybe the best thing is for Daddy to die because then he's sure to have a real upsurge in popularity - at least in the States.

So true, so true. I once started a thread about what will happen when Bowie dies, and I got raked over the coals for being evil and negative and morbid and even THINKING about such HORRIBLE things as Daddy's DEATH! Man, those were the days.

The broken registration feature certainly doesn't help though. Also bear in mind that some of the fleeting youngsters like myself stayed.

Other than that, I definately agree on these boards being great because we don't use free shit. And we don't even use more "up-to-date" non-free boards because they tend to have a tremendous amount of all kinds of annoying useless quick buttons that inspire overuse of emoticons, enlargened fonts and other crap.

I was getting carried away there, wasn't I?
