Who is the most qualified to run TW? new

I can only do the basics - news items, fixing broken links, web updates, etc.

The person to run TW would have to be a pretty decent programmer, hence the interactive concert pages, fan database, etc.

At this point, I think we'd be best off pooling our resources and sending you to programming school, Adam.

Fear not, little people.

As soon as I have the deeds to this place from Evan, I'll simply hire a suitably qualified webmaster.

Seconded!

However, I must add that I don't think it would be absolutely nescessary to find a person who could repair the interactive concert pages or even the fan database. The most important thing would be to bring the site up-to-date (the albums-, singles- and tours-sections). The interactive concert pages are neat but not altogether nescessary. The fan database it a bit more difficult as it's tied to the forum. One option would be simply scrapping the fan database, achiving the current forum and creating a new forum that isn't linked to the fan database. I think this would also make it easier for new people to join, even when the fan database was working I think many people were scared away by the fact they had to register there first and then essentially register a second time for TW. In fact I remember when my then-girlfriend, now-wife decided to register here and nearly balked when beingm told to register at the fan database first. In the end I convinced her it wasn't anything to be scared of, but if her reaction was like that (and at that time I had already been here for months) I wonder how many people were "lost" over the years for similar reasons?

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that it's not enough that a person is qualified to take care of this place as far as technological skills go, s/he also needs to have the time and the energy to do so. And if the alternatives are a dedicated person with limited skills or a an undedicated person with great skills I'd choose the former.

Christ, I would rather see this site crash than be run by a Jew!

Look what happened last time Bowie had anything of significance to do with a Jew (De Fries)

I have negotiated a cut-price fee with cyberhacker665 to hack & deface TW -- cut-price because he not only hates Jews, but Bowie also.

You all know it's for the best.

IMO, the interactive concert pages are/were one of the best and unique features of TW. The discographic and tour info is nice, but it's available online on other sites.

The other good thing about TW, of course, is that it's message board has the best structure (although, if I were running it, I would divide the "Views & Questions" into one subforum for facts and one for opinion).

I'm not sure how much programming knowledge is needed to maintain this site. The structure is there and doesn't need to be changed. Mostly "cut & paste", I would think.

Fair point (although for the record, as far as I know TW is the only place with a complete 7" single discography).

About the cut 'n' paste point, I guess that depends on how badly the tour section and the fan database have been corrupted. It might be something easily fixeble with minimal effort or it might be something that really requires the whole thing to be redone.

Too Many Dead Areas new [re: K]

If all the features were working and if the TWers were familiar with them the intearctive concert pages would be a fantastic feature. They had a short resurrection during the last tour but in the end fell back into oblivion.

If this side had a full technical recovery we would be surprised how many great functions are hidden here.

And I want to believe that a light's shining through somehow
