Yes, I am wasting my time here. But TW’s death has left me needing a daily fix of Stupid. The comment sections of the national newspapers are exceptionally rich in this regard. I have the need for TW, but I’m no longer bound to Bowie.

I’ve found a neat message board that satirizes stories in the Daily Mail, for instance. For some reason it’s in google’s top hits for the Mail’s site, which is how I came across it. Essentially, it consists of people poking fun at stories/comments in the Mail. It’s a message board poking fun at a message board. So I get my fix of Stupid vicariously, in safe, hermetic quote boxes. Why do these people feel compelled to comment on other boards, with people and views they’d rather not encounter? Ostensibly, they scream LOSER but I’m not sure they are losers in the worst sense. They’re sort of like Pablo without the crap jokes and pedo facial hair. They are, in other words, losers in their late 30s/early 40s, and they definitely wear cardigans, but they’re good company.

No.

Two & three quarter, or even three & a half years ago, I would've cared - although I thoroughly enjoyed my first couple of years here, I mostly feel as though I've completely wasted mine and everbody elses time for the duration of my TW membership.

Since converting to Islam recently, I now frequent this muslim discussion forum.

Besides that place I seldom use a football message board and at weekends I manage a fantasy football team for approximately ten minutes.

I don't think anyone ever purported the belief that they were acheiving something great here. Well, okay... maybe Stu. But, if I poured as much effort into a thing, I'd want to believe it was worth my time, too. (I'm just kidding, Stu. Please don't blacklist me.)

To be honest, though, I would miss the people here if they all decided to spend their time in nobler ways. There are already several posters whose long absences I've been sad about, namely Dara and eraserhead (at least we got a formal farewell from Dara! ...I feel so used, e.) Also, that people like Persilot and Shelle and Sam_X (among others) only pop their heads in every once in a while bums me out. But hey, I'm no better about "contributing regularly." (Perhaps I need more fiber in my diet.)
