Re: Prezbo for President new [re: JonnyManic]

I watched the first episode based on this thread. Honestly, it was barely watchable. I'm going to give it more time based on all the rave reviews (and cause I've got nothing else to watch, and I like to have some kind of stimulation during meals) but, um, yeah.

Oh, and what the hell is McNutty's accent? It really kills my boner.

McNulty? In my office, NOW new [re: guiltpuppy]

Dude is English of Irish origins so, while his accent sounds fine to me (and is brilliant when he's 'pretending' to be English in season 2), I can imagine it might sound wack to a North American.

I wasn't too into the first episode either, I was watching it on the insistence of my flatmate and passed the time by asking which characters were loose cannons and questioning whether or not they do things by the book in various departments.

Give it 3 episodes, I suppose. Also, they use the original version of the theme song in season 2 so it's worth waiting for.

Anyone else hear M.I.A.'s cover/sample? Is there anything that girl can't do, barring getting the fuck over here and sucking my cock?

It's not a tumor! new [re: Remade/Remodeled]

Nor is it a sample, I'm just retarded and frustrated by my lack of ability to edit posts.

I also haven't taught a student for four hours. Hurry the fuck up, office ladies!

Thanks for the link, apart from a quite enjoyable song, it was also sheer joy to read the intelligent discussion about it in the comments.
I particularly agree with Louis Cannon the loose cannon who states that:

Galang galang.

Re: McNulty? In my office, NOW new [re: Remade/Remodeled]

Yeah, the second episode was a marked improvement, and left me actually wanting to watch the third. I think I feel like this is going somewhere.

Can't wait til the intro music gets tolerable in season 2 - there's nothing worse than hearing a song you like get butchered. (Tho in this case, it's really a mediocre Waits song to begin with...)

And that MIA version - kinda good, but her schtick has worn thin on me already.

Well, what do you expect from an established loose cannon?

Bodymore Murdaland new [re: Remade/Remodeled]

Not only is Dominic West attempting an American accent, but it's supposed to be a Baltimore accent - for my money the strangest local inflection in the US. It's probably best represented on the show by Prop Joe and Lt. Mello, who are Baltimore natives, though McNulty does a pretty good job.

To guiltpuppy and JG, if she's still reading - all I can say is that the show's only real fault is that it's difficult to get people to watch it. It's easy to be sucked in by cliffhanger dramas like Lost and 24 in an episode or two, but The Wire took me at least half a season to begin to figure out which characters were which - and what the hell they were saying. But, yeah, obviously way worth it.

Re: Bodymore Murdaland new [re: Marquis]

Good thing I was still skimming through for any mention of me (generally how I read posts at TW.)

I tend to like dialogue-heavy shows, if that's what you mean. But I'm willing to put in my dues to get over the "WTF" hump.

Dig The Wire, and cop/drug shows are not usually my thing. I'm just working into season three now (via The Netflix, the greatest idea of all time - it makes the mail fun again!). My favorite character is Omar. His courtroom testimony at the end of season two cracked me up.
