Without having seen the film I can't comment but it does contain a reference to the title:

Snowman melting from the inside
Falcon spirals to the ground

...so there might be some relevance.

Having read the book, seen the movie and read the lyric, I think you're wrong. It's a unpleasant tale of cocaine dealing and espionage and quite a sad story. I think David has at least seen the movie, if not read the book, and has interpreted the sad tale of the two protagonists quite sweetly in his melancholic lyric.
