Past the gasworks.........
|
|
|
"Strikes the bell for 5 o' clock" - (Not 5.15, as in '5.15 The Angels Have Gone'?)
Arthur "Screws the tops on all the bottles" - (Is Arthur a bottle-fancier?)
He goes on to cycle past the gasworks, past the river - (Could this be the same river Bowie jumped into in the 'Candidate'?)
The chorus suggests that Arthur follows Batman..........Where to exactly?
Much to mothers despair, Arthur meets Sally, who is a bad cook - (Lodgers 'Repetition' springs to mind - Though there's no mention in the song that Arthur knocks Sally about, an unknown source has disclosed that the Sally character wore a blue dress)
Arthur goes back to serving in the family shop - (Is this the cornershop, also in 'Candidate' that sells papier mache?)
In the final line of the final chorus, Arthur decides to follow mother - (Is this the same mum as in 'Ashes To Ashes'?) - And does Arthur follow mother instead of Batman? - Or did Batman drop Arthur because of Robin?
I think there's more to 'Uncle Arthur' - (Uncle Floyd?) - Than meets the eye.

Silly Boy Blue, is the adopted Tibetan child that grew to be Uncle Arthur.
See the connection in the title - 'Silly Boy Blue' - where 'Uncle Arthur' character, 'Sally', wore the blue dress!
The very dress that Anne went on to wear in 'Repetition.'
The girl that Arthur/Johnny, could have married.
Which leads me to another question:
Is the girl in 'Blue Jean' in fact 'Anne' from 'Repetition'?
This could explain the camouflaged face.

Well, that would explain many things... Let say, that she is. And somewhere between of her birth and dead, she had a child, a little girl, who's name was (Little) Babe grace. And we all know what happened to her...

well, I would add my interpretation of the song...but it seems maybe I'm missing the joke, so I'll just sit quietly.
