Crh4878, thanks for your kind encouragement. I must admit it has been great fun trying to figure out the lines of the song .
Yes it had occured to me lately as well that "dont stay away" is Bowie also referring to his son (and himself sumultaneously), whom he wishes to get custody of. Then "come out to play" is a message to Angie, lets get on with our separation agreement. "come out to play" also being a pun, castigating her/their? behaviour in this as childish.
Other puns.
"you'll meet a stranger some night" - suggests a sinister encounter.
"dead or alive" - as in wanted dead or alive (as well as is the relationship dead or alive?). The couple are being hunted by the press.
We live for just these twenty years Do we have to die for the fifty more?

Yeah, I've always assumed this song is about Angie. I really don't think its about Duncan at all. Just listen to the lyrics... its quite evident that its about Angie.

Hi Nymphet
But if the song isnt about Duncan at all then where does the title "Because Your Young" fit into things?
Unless the song is a message to his younger fans? Warning them about involving themselves in a bad relationship.
Yes that theory might work just fine, excellent point.
Though it is the lines "so ill dance my life away", "little metal faced boy, dont stay away" and "a million scars a million dreams" which still convince me that there is an element of Bowie reflecting on his relationship with his son in the song.
