"man landing on the moon"? What does this mean?
It means that in my opinion man landed on the moon mainly to look cool.

I thought it was "funky pumps" at first, as well. But I think "fuck-me pumps" fits very well with the concept of the song.
Also, in "It's No Game (Part II)", when he sings "Children 'round the world put camel shit on the walls"...I don't have any idea what that's supposed to mean, but I think it sounds rather groovy nonetheless.
But then, why should I speak, since I know nothing.

Personally I don't curse, but cursing in some of Bowie's songs just sounds right. I think cursing doesn't suit Bowie though, he seems to much of a gentlemen.

David stated in an interview for Tin Machine (1st album) that all the swear words were in the album because that's how he always wrote. He said he usually edits the swear words out because he doesn't want to be too offensive, but he decided for Tin Machine he should leave them in and keep the lyrics in the raw state.
This isn’t an exact quote, as I don’t remember exactly, although it’s pretty close. But I wouldn't put swear words past David. :-)

On the contrary, i think cursing fits David rather well. There's just something about the way swearing rolls off his tongue...it makes it seem so sophisticated and not so taboo.

I don't think the swearing in his songs sounds too 'unlike' him, 'cause I think it fits well when he does use it.
However not in songs whe he just talks, Iv'e always felt that he is more 'gentleman' like. Although, when he was on Parkinson he said "They fuck you up your parents do" and this didn't sound too - how do I put it - out of character.

I thought that as well when he said that on Parkinson.

I think it's likely that the people who are bothered by certain words have been conditioned to respond that way by their country's culture.
Though the person who brought it up isn't American and none of the Americans seem to have a problem with it. And though we have a proud heritage of censorship in America, swearing in popular music is surprisingly prevalent.
