In reply to:

I agree, Labyrinth means the same to me too. I still hate Chilly Down thou because the foxes used to scare me.

Those foxes still scare me. If I happen to be watching that film, I always find some excuse to get distracted when that sequence comes on.

Regarding the thread itself... Surprisingly, I'm not sure I can really pick out a song that is that meaningful to me. Considering I'm a huge Bowie fan, I probably ought to, but... I don't know. I guess Bowie is generally more head music, and while it's not emotionless by any means, I think Bowie intentionally avoids being too extremely sentimental. Even the alleged Terry songs are carried out with a certain "hey, this is still a pop song" sensibility evident.

Even songs that I associate with some other period of my life don't really do so in particularly deep ways. I associate Oh! You Pretty Things with a certain type of sandwich I was eating a lot at the time I was listening to it a lot. I think that's about the extent of it.

The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had.

The very end of 'Candidate':

We'll buy some drugs and watch a band/
And jump in the river holding hands

If you *get* that, you *get* me.

The beat is fat; the rhyme is obese

Actually, it's "Station To Station" - it wasn't the first Bowie song I ever heard, but the first that I really liked.

Ashes to Ashes and Changes mean the most to me, as they remind me of a certain time and period in my life. Moonage Daydream, Under Pressure and the Low instrumentals also mean a lot.

There are seven songs that always mean a lot to me:

1. Life On Mars?

It sounds stupid and unoriginal, but it's my chilhood as a song. Also, has a lot to do with my friends death when we were kids, and what happened to me after that.

2. Sweet Thing/Candidate

When I first heard it, i thought i had heard it before i was born....See?

3. Cygnet Committee

It's such a sad song. I know it's pathetic to be moved by that song, but it's not all bout the lyrics but ... I really can't tell... Easter.... Jesus Christ... ????

4.Wild-eyed boy from freecloud

I AM that wild-eyed boy, aren't i? Well, i'm a girl but that's not the point.

5. Time

When i wish i could calm down, feel less nervous and have a nap. Every day. I listen to it EVERY night before falling asleep. No qualuudes, though, not even wine, usually.

And it's also on dreaming. I've been close to have my door to dreams closed...

6. Five years

I'm a five-year-person. I live five-year-periods and have had whole 4 of those.

7. Crystal Japan

A song that was already in my head before i heard it.

Day after day they send my friends away

Within you and As the world falls down meant one lover I lost. I ended up just like Jareth.... but without the owl.
